R33 Rear Gtst Brakes...bolt Up On Na Skyline?
Eug replied to Chi100188's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
no, i used the existing inner brake shoes from the R33 GTS25 -
quite possibly jay, it's such a power demanding track though. i prefer more technical stuff like motorkhanas and hill climbs, going to try my hand at street sprints next year. a bit of this, a bit of that, as long as it's fun. and i reckon it's boring in a sense and especially compared to sweet tracks like darlington and lakeside which just sit there growing grass.

it's been proven in drag applications that a heavier flywheel is faster for turbos, as you stay on boost while you change gears. unsure for NA though

Cris, in the RB30 thread is a bit of a long read, but in there somewhere there is discussion on achieving desired CR. there is a formula to it, but it involves so many variables. there's this quench/squish thing to consider, which i'm not 100% clear on. from what i gather, involves a bit of r&d into having the pressures just below the unwanted knock levels. it's far too technical and involves thermodynamics and kinetics and a whole lot of stuff out of my science field. the gasket used (obviously thinnest possible). valve clearances becomes something to consider, i'd do valve springs as well due to increased pressure. in regards the the safe amount, i don't see why 12:1 isn't possible (on ethanol pump fuel, maybe?). - it does come down to the fuel available, the ecu, the tuner and the actual tune itself - increased CR = increased pinging a light skim would be ideal, after that it becomes a case of valve springs, then you may as well get bigger valves, hey while your there port and polish, ahh f**k it why not cam shafts and cam gears. 11:1 would be somewhere streetable i would say... again down to tune & fuel avail. again there's so many variables; and it's a good discussion topic - so discuss away!

i cant help exactly, but on the rear i have replaced my r33 gts25 with: - r32 gtst rotors + redrilled to 4 stud - r32 gtst calipers + pads - necessary brake lines - removed dust shield - re-tighten the handbrake to suit with no dramas, i often use my handbrake in motorkhana/skidpans without fail. -
who (andrew)? and what were you doing? service?
-
overtaking from the outside can do that.

ahahaha... free mountain run trophey with every pack... i sold that guy my stocko rims
-
where be these mountain dudes jay?

is that NZD$450 second hand? equals to roughly AUD$400, which is pretty decent that side has AUD$838.95 - which is far too expensive. rough quote on a cusco 4.8kg is AUD$460 ($500 max?) hmm... tempting - drop gearbox, not to mention "hey why not do the clutch again". - we're looking $1000-1200 :|

new pb times from the latest timeattack 23rd aug 2007 1:17.54 clubman (wet) 1:09.44 sprint (drying)

dude... that's f**king quick. about 1 second off giant's time from memory? and definitely leading the local gtr/evo times. p.s. - what's topgear?
-
how much was the toda flywheel? and who'd you order it through? the lightest one i've seen (and frankly the only one i was interested in due to its weight) is the 4.8kg cusco. didn't know there even was a brand called toda i'm pretty much in the same position as you, i also circuit race and find it quite lacking in punch coming out of corners. no idea on a button/fly combo, but i'd expect to have jerky take offs and it might catch you off guard and stalling when you're being lazy. by all means cara go for it if you're taking the clutch out, it saves dropping the gearbox again. but my personal opinion would be to go all out with the lightest and deal with the annoyance or none at all. if you're not racing or doing some form of motorsport than it's not really THAT necessary. p.s. - i'm sure despite the initial awkwardness any driver with half a mind will quickly adapt and it will simply become normal after a few days/weeks
-
we both do track work... so high loads and rpm goes without saying.
-
shotgun not wheelchairing you around when you become handicapped dude.
-
yeah it is sad to actually see how shallow everyone is. well everyone knows when you have a turbo you instantly become schumacher. no excuses when you get beaten by one though!
-
ahahaha... you coming onto me Nic? i'd just like to see this part of the forum kick off. a lot of people seem to have this notion that you need a turbo to own a skyline.
-
yes, do it if you're changing your clutch. i'm kicking myself because i didnt. never ever lighten your stock flywheel, it will shatter and most probably cut your legs off. they will lightly machine it to get the surface flat when you change your clutch though - which is totally fine. a quick question though cara, why do you want to change it? are you going to be circuit racing? because that's really the only place you'll ever make use of it in high rpm. a lightened flywheel will reduce torque, getting off from traffic lights becomes a hassle, need to rev more to get going = more fuel, changing gears becomes a mission as the revs drop off too quickly, some gearboxes have been known to vibrate as flywheels supposedly absorb a fair bit of the engine's vibrations (unconfirmed), going up hills becomes an issue apparently too. far too many negatives for your street applications to even consider it. have a long think about where you'd like to go with the car and plan your mods out accordingly. any questions ask away, i've researched into it fairly extensively as i'll be putting one in when my new clutch goes (which wont really be anytime soon ) eug

no worries, we're all here to help.

every camera is different, check your manual. longer exposure basically holds the shutter open for longer *insert technical terms here*, from my understanding it allows more light to filter through to be incorporated into the photos, giving pictures that dynamic look.
-
that's why you use a longer exposure, without flash. pictures will come out like this

10th May & 20th Sept for meeeeeeeee

they look like BBS LMGTs

looks like a shopping trolley to me

must have missed this post the first time. LOL! haha... there is one thing, how to solve the world's depleting oil/petroleum sources. not to worry, i'm working on it - give me a few years everyone might still be able to drive a skyline yet, albeit on diesel though. thanks though... i think. lol.
