if only i could take the credit for it... i heard his car is untouchable...

Winding Up Noise/high Pitched Spinning Noise
Eug replied to HolyEvil's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
a turbo j/k could be your synchros? could be your pod filter? open up the engine bay and play with the throttle cable to diagnose where exactly it's coming from -
either way a fuel pump is one of those consumables you need to change anyway (like a timing belt).
-
heya, been at UQ for most of the time chocked with assignments... will send you a PM
-
ok try it now

TT clip: Original clip: original footage - option dvd?? --> in japan? and the bike is ghost rider??
-
yeah RDA are a worthy replacement... i wouldnt class it up there with DBA, but unless you're really pushing them you wont notice. like greg said - filter and oil is very simple... another thing to look at is your fuel pump

went down and had a sneak peak this afternoon while setting up... queen street have some impressive cars on show. there's a moisty ferrari there. the lumpy cam'd r32 got me wet (sounded like a rotor). so much rice... so ricey... ALOT of people with more money than sense - 1/2 the cars were trailered in.

oops i forgot to add something in the first line. *that he'd be better off doing a transplant RB25DET - rather than to do an RB25DE+T
-
who's motor is that? I would liek some details plueaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasee!!! been dying to hear a non turbo RB with trumpets!
-
EDIT: better off doing a 25DET transplant, that said the turbo motors are starting to get old & tired - everyone i see is up for rebuilds anyway. so it's probably a time better spent on bringing up other components up to scratch. - rebuild some big brembos - organize the suspension - possibly start building a better motor than the stock rb25, twin cam 30?, v8? - keep in mind that the motors are over a decade old now and getting tired - in another 3 years time everyone will be driving around on rebuilt bottom ends. that said - what does he want to do with the car? no point even considering about it if he just wants to go to and from the shops.
-
is this you?? it's a bit dodge because they are screeners off my incar footage - i'll see what i can do about getting bigger res ones... got some nice ones of me in the mud =P
-
nope they do... check your SAFC skit... should be a knock reading
-
haha i bet you're just loving the stir up... got any circuit times?
-
i think you're being taken for a run. sounds like they have no idea what they're looking for and simply changing whatever they think needs to be replaced. diagnose your problem at a reputable mechanic - do it first time, do it right.
-
no idea what it sounds like... but if it is what i think you're trying to describe then it's a typical inline 6 twin cam characteristic... the m3 has a slight metallic raspy sound (and yes i have heard one in full song in real life) - and although not comparable, it is quite distinct. try to put a sound file up... easier to diagnose

it's apples and oranges - i dont see why all the turbo owners want to compare the two types of cars? keep in mind you are in the NA section, where we talk about NA stuff. so don't come in here preaching about how a turbo car is all this and all that. do you want a medal for having a turbo car, do you feel superior for owning one to the point where you have to come in here and think you're doing the world a greater good trying to "show us the light"?? although you are right in some regard - the fact that you can apply power more linearly and progressively means you're out of the tighter corners faster and smoother than turbo cars. it's all about driveability and personal preference of each individual driver. F1 cars arent forced induced? only the "push to pass cars - the name escapes me at the moment" run forced induction... i'd like to see this comparison end, i'm sick of justifying and defending why we have chosen the cars we own in OUR OWN SECTION. i'm not a moderator nor would i like to get one involved, if you have nothing constructive to add then i am politely asking you to post no further. thanks.

there's the door... cya

touché scathing, another turbo owner who thinks they have the answer. and lets face it, there are other events such as motorkhanas, hill climbs, tight tracks and deca rallies - this is where turbo lag, and high power come at a disadvantage, and where driver skill and car control dominate. the point? people need to learn observe the whole motorsport scene as a whole, that races aren't just measured in the time it takes to cross a 400m straight, and that surprise surprise underpowered cars can also give you a run for your money.
-
of course i am getting defensive - because countless times we have had to explain to others that we simply do not want a turbo car (if we did, we would - and the gtst/gtr guys seem to be continuously pressing their own ideals and are constantly trying to sway us). when we start threads as to how to extract a little more power from the na engines, you get narrow minded people who simply come in here and think a turbo will solve all. it wont. as to learning skill, i'm not saying everyone must get an NA car to gain skill, it's simply a stepping stone. where do people start? go karts, production classed races, not everyone jumps straight into a formula 1 car. i see countless written off gtsts, gtrs, turbo 180/s13s/s14s/s15s, because people simply cannot handle the sudden hit of boost. this is by no means a generalization - and i'm certainly not saying any one particular model is better than the other. find what you may - this has just been my personal observations of a select few. each model serves it's purpose, otherwise people wouldn't buy them. it's like telling rb20det owners not to bother with modifying them and that an rb25 is the answer, and likewise for them and that an rb25/26/30det is the answer... victory (charles) is pretty much spot on and highlights what i said before about having a stepping stone... the case study about his son is also a prime example and re-enforces the fact that regardless of what car accidents/control/etc can and do happen. just having a more powerful car would more than likely increase the chances of a spin out/crash/etc because people simply cannot encompass all aspects and the dynamics of the car in one go. that said i am currently in the pipeline for more power - to get more power from the current motor is futile for my budget, and although i have yet to max out the car's braking and suspension capabilities they are pretty much done to death and are far exceeding the power output of my car. i am a fairly open minded person, and it's these narrow minded people with "the gtr (gtst) can never lose" mentality that not only makes me want to prove them wrong, but simply put - they are no better than the bogans who yell out: "get a v8"
-
said GTR driver is a wanker - he was passed by an NA supra through the mountains, and he was beaten by me by 3-4 seconds around Queensland Raceway. the point i'm trying to make is the fact that some gtst/gtr owners think they are better (have the better car) simply because they own one. you are in the NA section, people have chosen their cars for whatever particular reason, we dont need people telling us that our cars are inferior in whatever way they see. there'll always be a faster/better/more expensive/more likely to be rebuilt car around. bugatti vs. ferrari vs. gtr vs. gtst vs. gts vs. etc vs. etc. it's a never ending viscious cycle, and the forced induced people need to respect that. that said - you learn much more by driving a slow car fast than trying to drive a fast car fast, and this is my personal experience.

Circuit Friendly Alignment?
Eug replied to NickR33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
i found that neither my front nor rear strutbraces did much... i already had swaybars (like yourself) and the gains if any were not noticeable. the struts on skylines are reasonably stiff as they are. -
i remember this car... it was crap will
