  2. not really a gt car, but an exige would be oh so sweet
  3. where on earth did you manage to get an SITC??? i've kept an eye out for over a year and have yet to find one for sale!!!!

    Bloody Hoons!

i think in this day an age... i personally would buy something other than a skyline. not to discourage you, but it really depends on what you want to do with it? track? cruise? drift? show? etc... from there you can decide. my younger brother just bought his first car... cost the same as my skyline (back 4 years ago) - but is 8 years younger, more comfortable, effortless through the twisties, bucket seats, etc etc, ohh that's factory standard.. needless to say, i was the one that chose it for him, and i am madly jealous.

huh... helping you get an R33? i'm lost - how old are you? page 1 :sorcerer:
  6. do tuners actually build a map for the hi/low throttle maps?
  7. yes, but who sets normal driving = 0 knock? certainly each car has a different "normal"
  8. i just bought an safc2 myself (havent installed it yet) but as i understand it - you are meant to subtract the "stock" knock figures from the "tune" knock figures... no? since it's a microphone you'd get knock anyway - but since the "stock" knock figures are normal, you would ultimately make that zero?
  9. just make sure you wipe the maps
  10. few quick questions RE: pulley kit. i would say your car is an exception to most other regular street cars. first of all, would you recommend it for the average skyline daily driver/street car? second of all, what were the gains like? any negatives? lastly, cost? (UAS $430 for R32GTST... no R33)
  11. funny you should say that... i recently co-ordinated the group buy for RB20/25 extractors a few months ago... needless to say i refuse to do further dealings with that company again due to poor communication efforts. they are however trustworthy as members of this board (myself included) have purchased a few thousand dollars worth of extractors. i found myself constantly calling them, and enquiring as to progress reports and what not. i think everyone bar (chicane, who had a slightly more time consuming order) has received their headers. chicane has actually received his slip for the pick up, but due to easter break is unable to pick them up. i know MissR34 has also contacted me regarding some new headers, so it's best if you speak to her - she might have sourced another supplier. that said if you really wish to purchase from the said company, PM me and i can supply you with details. you will however not get the prices i was able to establish. aftermarket exhaust wise... not ANY will fit, it depends on that size... if you have a 2.25" system, stick to that. whilst a 3.5" one will fit - it will be less beneficial. i suggest do some reading and learn about a few things before jumping into the deep end. you are young, and it pays to build up a little knowledge before handing over your money. not every mechanic and salesman is your friend, and not many of them will help you out like many of the members of this board. it pays to ask questions like you have done, ask smart questions and try searching these forums for your answers. more than likely they've been answered before.
  12. extractors/headers/branches are normally the name associated with non turbo motors. manifolds are normally the name associated with turbo motors. the names are essentially interchangeable. turbo manifolds and non turbo manifolds are completely different physically, they are a totally different setup. in a turbo motor, the exhaust gases feed into the exhaust housing of the actual turbo spinning the exhaust turbine, which in turn causes the intake turbine to spin, these gases are then expelled through the dump pipe/wastegate into the cat and then out the catback. in the non turbo motor, the exhaust gases join and are directly expelled into the cat then out the catback. they are interchangeable from catback (meaning from the catylytic convertor then back). anywhere from the side of the head to the cat itself is a totally different system. i don't have the time to explain this in words, it's much easier if you sit down and learn first hand how things work from A to B, rather than skipping straight to C. in a nutshell, you do not want an exhaust manifold from a turbo motor if you do not plan on having a turbo.. simple?
  13. justinfox: did you end up getting the pulley kit? with these types of mods wouldn't you be looking at 1/10ths of a second improvements? or am i way off the mark and it basically all comes down to improving the driveability?
  14. are you doing a turbo conversion? - you'll have to buy an exhaust system, to upgrade it. - yes the manifold stud pattern lines up the same between the NA and turbo - just depends what it is you are after. - a dump pipe will be required if you are swapping over to a turbo manifold, you will also need a TURBO!! - you'll will need to know the size of the exhaust in order to be able to find one/buy one that will fit. - you can search the forums to find an upgraded exhaust. now that i've answered your questions, you can answer mine... - how old are you? - do you REALLY know what you're talking about?
  15. because the genuine ones say GTS25T
  16. really? i'm still trying to get my head around the whole flat 4 thing... they have two heads no? and a single cam in each? which really makes it a twin cam? but unlike the skyline where one cam is intake and the other exhaust... the flat configured cylinders have 1 cam which does intake/exhaust for 2 cylinders, and same for the other side? or am i incorrect?
  17. what's the motor in the liberty RS? my brother just bought an impreza RS... don't know if they have the same/similar setup/motor?
  18. Mike from MV Automatics calls it a "stage 2" shift kit - basically he modifies the valve body to make it shift harder. I'm not too technical on how it works, etc. because I don't have an auto and never driven one. try this link: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...mp;hl=shift+kit
  19. havent really done anything to it cosmetically and i quite like the standard look. the stickers were for a car show.. the car is completely black now.
  20. apparently the type s has 7 more kw. in the back of my mind, i think i read somewhere that the type s was the one option'd with the LSD diff. i am 50/50 on that. i know my type s has the lsd.
  21. good to see that not everyone on this forum is a 13y/o school kid on holidays!!! although some may act like it hey exactly what i was going to say... some of the auto drivers on this forum have had something done to their valve bodies to make it shift harder (or something) - don't quote me on it. a mate had his sent down somewhere in melbourne? to a place called MV Automatics or similar. quite a nifty mod.
  22. and oh what a sweet ride it is... expect single digit runs soon!
  23. hahaha... key word being healthy Geoff but yeah... the cost vs. results (although as cool as that may be) can't be justified.
