http://www.imvfilms.com/joesgttt.php its a 20 minute video, but well worth it... the amount of engineering and planning is quite cool, none of this slap bang rubbish. keep an eye out for the bit where he calls his missus, and the use of a greddy profec

welcome aaron, looks like the NA section is starting to pick up. congratulations on the buy, looks like a very very nice example of how a series 2 r33 should be. you have the cool light up skyline garnish at the rear too - that's quite rare!!! as to the front bar i havent seen one like that either (looks similar to a doluck, but its not). either way the car looks good - use the search function on the forums to find any answers you may have. eug

Help! Im Buying A Non Turbo Skyline
Eug replied to GoldRush's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
can YOU smell the fuel? it could be anything causing the smell, faulty o2 sensor, leak in the fuel line, etc. kinda hard to diagnose the problem. there are quite a few skylines floating around now - so have your pick and only buy if you are comfortable. that said a few NAs have been recently snapped up quickly. -
really? nice. what was the quote for exactly? cat? pipes and muffler? i was looking at the new metalcat or magnaflow ones (to go with the new extractors/exhaust) and they are retailing for around $200 odd, but funnily enough a mate sent me an ebay link for a magnaflow for $140ish which i thought was alright. p.s - on the topic of exhausts, we are currently running a group buy on coby extractors from new zealand. click the link in my signature for details.

hey dude, welcome. you are quite lucky to have been bought a nice car at such a young age. most of what you need can be found by searching through these forums, either search bar at the bottom or the link up top (alternatively click here). if you ever have a question search first - and if you cant find an answer, then start a new thread. there are many ways to increase power; it all comes down to your budget and application, so start from there. start searching; extractors, exhaust, hiflow cat to begin with. your looking at an easy $1000 right there. it's apparent you havent got the fundamentals of forced induction. to get the "air" sound (as you call it) you will need a turbo and a blow off valve. so let me just tell you straight up there's no way you will ever have that sound from a non-turbo car without losing your dignity. remember this game is all about knowledge so use your brain like a sponge and try to read as many of these threads as you can, and only ask if you cant find an answer.
-
although $400 is a realistic figure, i'd budget for a little more considering hiflow cats are at least already in the ~$200 odd region.
-
with most cars the standard exhaust is where the restriction lies, due to emissions, noise, etc. so you can expect to pull a bit of power there. like ignuz said, speak with your local shop and see what they can offer you. as a reference no bigger than 2.5" piping, and budget for a decent catyltic convertor, resonators, the muffler will also have a largish effect on how it sounds - so have a look for a nice muffler, not a 4" cannon.

Rb25de, Rb20de & Rb30e (skyline & Cefiro) Extractors/headers Group Buy
Eug replied to Eug's topic in Group Buys
that's fine dude - ultimately its your money and you have a right to know what you're paying for. i have emailed partsco and asked them anyway - so i'll get back to you with whatever they say. as i said - if you want to be sure, then i suggest getting them hpc coated with someone you know. at $170 its dirt cheap, so personally i am not fussed. -

while i dont claim to be an expert on headers - i think your looking into it way too much. we aren't extracting every last kilowatt here. the entire reason why i enquired about the hpc coating was due to the heat made by headers as greg pointed out. by all means if you want you can just purchase the headers themselves and get it hpc at a company you prefer - i'm just merely passing on an offer made available to us. -
Rb25de, Rb20de & Rb30e (skyline & Cefiro) Extractors/headers Group Buy
Eug replied to Eug's topic in Group Buys
i'm not quite sure what you are on about Sean. it's just a standard (if you can say that) high temperature corrosion barrier. why would you coat the header internally? no one does that as far as i know - nor is there any real beneficial reason to. hpc coating is generally used as a thermal barrier - so yes it will provide some heat protection similar to that of heat wrap. changing the outlet should not incur any extra cost, i have asked and here is what i recieved: -

cutting it back to the collector and welding a 2.xx" one on instead, i'm not 100% sure - i guess it depends if they have them pre-made or are fabricating as we order them... i'm guessing the later, so they'll just weld on a 2.xx" instead of a 2.00" -
thanks for your input greg, much appreciate it... guys please check the group buy thread, i have updated the first post accordingly - and will need each one of you to state what it is exactly that you want. then we can finalize prices. see here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=140134 i'm getting a 2.5" outlet, gasket, hpc coated with economy delivery and it's totaled to AUD$425 which is an absolute steal!!!

Rb25de, Rb20de & Rb30e (skyline & Cefiro) Extractors/headers Group Buy
Eug replied to Eug's topic in Group Buys
FIRST POST UPDATED guys, some good news... i've called up and we are pretty much good to go. - they are able to cut the outlet back to 2.25 to 2.50", since i know most of you would have/looking into a catback system in future. - hpc coating is AUD$170 per header. - i've also made mention about the orange paint and they are looking into that, obviously not a worry with HPC coating. - i've also made arrangements for a variety of shipment, these will go from them straight to your door. - rb30e extractor is also available (the code is D5) and i have sweet talked them into including that into the arranged price with rb20/25. shipment options International Express (1-3 days) AUD$100.00 International Air (3-6 days) AUD$70.00 International Economy ( 10-15 days) AUD$60.00 -

Rb25de, Rb20de & Rb30e (skyline & Cefiro) Extractors/headers Group Buy
Eug replied to Eug's topic in Group Buys
hey guys. i've sent out 3 emails, from the 24th october, 29th october and 2nd november, and i have not recieved further correspondence other than the info i've given you all. they might be busy, and i'm am going to give it till mid-next week for them to reply back to us, i will then give them a friendly call to see what the go is. i want these extractors as bad as you do and hope this will be a textbook group buy. i won't ask for any payment from anyone until i (we) feel that we have their full attention, and are confident they arent pussy footing with our buy. sorry about this, just keeping you guys updated cheers -
how will you guys fasten the mdf to the actual parcel shelf? if your making it shorter at both ends? i was going to make a shorter shelf - but went against the idea as i thought pillar trim is designed to keep the shelf in place preventing it to rattle.

i didnt really think heat was such a big issue with headers, obviously the engine bay is a little warmer, and you might get a cool orange glow if you give it enough stick - but since headers deal with exhaust gases and the gases are constantly being expelled i cant see any sort of large significant gain. although someone can come tell me otherwise, i'd like to know as well.
