    Rust Repair

hey guys, can anyone recommend a workshop that'll be able to restore the sill panel of an r33? There appears to be rust underneath the paint and the affected area will probably need to be cut out and have a new piece of metal welded in.
  7. Hey guys looking for a sill panel that's still in a good condition(no rusts, dents etc.), preferably white.
  8. Compression tests are even across all cylinders 158-161, no issues with suspension/brakes either, transmission isn't notchy so at least that's all safe for now! Edit: Front guards are all good! it's just the rears that are kind of meh
  9. I've had the car fully jacked up and underbody checked by chasers before and didn't have any issues as far as the chassis is concerned fortunately for me and it doesn't have any history of a writeoff, did a ppsr check as well to confirm. I will try and remove the sound deadener to see how bad it is underneath and get the hinges replaced as well as get myself a wire wheel
  10. Don't forget me Ash!
  11. Hey guys I just took photos of a number of issues regarding paint/rust in my r33. I'm wondering to what extent can I restore the paint, less the guards. Hopefully this could help some others in the future with their paint problems! I've tried searching the site but I've only found the bad ones that really need a respray or bubbles in paint from rust that need to be sanded back and painted over. This is going to be a long post but here goes! 1) I'll start off with some chips on the bonnet and the driver's door I thought of getting the PowerPlus's primer/paint(Polar White, I believe this is QM1 for nissan skylines, am I right?) and clear coat from SuperCheapAuto So... Is the polar white from supercheapauto the correct paint? Which primer should I use? Do I need to sand back everything? Or can I just clean the area and apply primer -> paint -> clear coat -> Cut and polish the area to even it out? Or do I need to buff it instead? 2) Next are what I think is happening is that the top paint is peeled off(I think!) and can I again, just clean -> paint -> clearcoat -> cut and polish? I'm unsure what this last one is, it appears that it's been painted over a long time ago? 3) Here's some rust I found on the hinges of the driver's side door, I was thinking of applying Septone's rust convertor from SCA then touch up paint and a clear coat as a finish. I don't think I can buff the area so I think careful application with a paint brush should suffice (I think!) 4) Rust in the usual spare tyre area, found out that it was my lights which I will be removing and resealing them in the near future. It looks like something's been welded over in place though. I plan to cover the entire area with rust convertor again and just paint it over, I'm not sure if I'm missing anything. The second image shows some small cracks due to rust over time. No idea how long it's been going on for 5) Here's the nasty one lol, the rear guards are pretty f!@#& Can I just sand the area, then prime -> paint -> clear coat and follow with a cut and polish(buff?) I probably need to get them flared or rolled? Here're two pictures of how both tyres sit on each side. (On a side note, one side seems to protrude out more than the other ) 6) Front bumper, I'm not sure if this can be salvaged or do I need to respray it entirely? 7) Lastly, this probably doesn't belong in this section of the forum but I thought I'd just keep it in one post(don't have to answer this! I'll post in the other section if required) can I adjust to make the boot lid sit flush? Or do I need to get a new one? Thanks for staying till the end , this is my first skyline so any and every comment is welcome! Just some additional information, I just bought an RO Polisher and I'm worried that if I go over the areas where the paint's peeled/chipped/cracked, I might cause further damage to the paint. Do I need to patch them up before polishing? I might just avoid tape up the problem areas and just polish the rest of the car. Thoughts? Edit: Some images weren't loading, had to retype the code
  12. Hey Athid! I think your inbox is full, can't send you any messages, need you to advise me on what you can do for my guards. Cheers!

  13. It's got the stock BOV though, so it's possibly the engine mount. Hopefully it'll end up being a simple fix and not more than that, I'll get the diff and subframe checked anyway just in case.
  14. I find that drinking a ton of water at one go helps a lot, the 30 secs of pee that follows helps to clean everything
  15. I'll probably bring it in for a check then =/, looks like there're too many potential issues that I won't be able to problem solve on my own. Thanks for the recommendation/help guys!
  16. cheers mate, any recommendations for a good engine mount that doesn't make the idling too harsh?
  17. Hey guys, so I was wondering what might be the cause of the jerking sensation I get when I release the gas suddenly. It doesn't happen if I do it smoothly though. Anyone have any ideas?
  18. redline lightweight shockproof aka smurf blood for the gearbox, not too sure about using the same for the differential. Read a couple of mixed reviews that it makes it kinda slippery anyone care to correct?
  19. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/344717-2001-r34-gtt/page__hl__management%3A+nistune+ecu+blitz+id3+boost+controller+blitz+power+meter__fromsearch__1 same car?
  20. how much did you sell it for mate? just curious
  21. the problem is that there are a total of only 8(auto/manual) GTS skylines in the entire of Australia. Look at the GTST's, 70(auto/manual) it's a lot more competitive there hence the lower prices. 4 manuals and 4 automatics for GTS's, the only reason why they're that high of a value is because they're so rare there's not much competition going around. It's a really slow market and sort of a niche I must say that for most people, when on their P's... are not willing to spend the money to buy an N/A. Now why'd I say that? Look at the number of cars in the market. only 8 in the entire of Australia on carsales for non-turbocharged ones. In general, people would rather save the money for a turbo down the road than spend more on an N/A one. I didn't say that people wouldn't spend money on an N/A. It's just really really tiny and the turnover isn't as fast as turbo'ed ones. If both had the equivalent number of cars in the market and with all things equal, the non-turbos will be a lot cheaper than the turbos as the competition will push its current prices down by a large margin. I don't quite agree that people looking at getting a skyline would settle for a family car by the time they get their full license. Say if you got your licence at 18, would you get a family car at 21? Hell no! I'd wanna feel the power of a modded turbocharged skyline xD. We all always end up wanting more at the end of the day until a baby comes along :s. edit: I love bayside blues btw I think they're the best looking ones around xD.
  22. firstly, you will need to filter MANUAL and AUTOMATIC. Those worthless turbocharged cars are mostly automatic or has got stupid problems like odometer isn't working etc etc. You will NOT find a 25gtt manual for as low as 4k, that's just stupid. The market for automatic turbocharged cars are MUCH smaller than their manual counterparts. Seriously lol, you're not comparing apples with apples. Compare the automatic with the automatic, not manual with an auto, that's just dumb. An automatic 25gt starts from 7500, whereas the automatic 25gtt starts from 9000. Edit: I don't care how much the OP decides to sell his skyline for but because Deza is clearly wrong when he says turbocharged cars are worth less.
  23. Yeah I agree with what Ruxis says mate, don't settle for a cheap skyline. It's a bargain for a reason mate, gotta be careful with these skylines. Gotta get a mechanic to get it checked, never ever buy one that just looks good. You'll never know what's underneath. There're lots of under $8k stock series 2's on carsales mate, why don't you check them out if you're looking for a cheap one? Some of them are pretty mint too. Can't just keep waiting for those once in a lifetime cheap modded skylines which could be risky. Nobody mods a car and doesn't push it lol. If they tell you that, that's just plain bullshit hahaha. If you're unemployed these things are going to burn a hole in your pocket mate, they suck up nothing but good fuel/oil replacements. If I were you I'd save up and increase your budget and get a good one that comes along after you get a job. Because maintaining these sort of cars are going to be pretty costly if it's a daily. It's not exactly fuel efficient, and the more km's you clock, the quicker you'll need to spend on those expensive oil replacements.
  24. Won't find a modded r33 in a mint condition for 8k mate, there're so many at your price range on carsales but I'm pretty sure they're either thrashed or just plain stock. Will never get an r34 for 8k mate, maybe an automatic one or one that's really thrashed. 10k will get you a good one with mods and decent interior/exterior.
