  1. Hey guys, Long time lurker, always watching those classifieds for whenever a dream car comes up. Used to own a Z32 300zx TT 1990 that was a 2+2 Manual (got it when I was 19), loved the damn thing to bits, then it got stolen and stripped by Brytech Automotive when I took it in for an engine upgrade (Google on the 300zx forums to see that fiasco, good times). Long story short, sold the TTZ for peanuts after I realised how much money I was sinking and how little I was getting back, then got a HSV Clubsport R8 2008 LS3 Manual, heavy pig of a car but great engine note and it handled and performed really well for 1850kg, right up until last month when a tired driver ran into the rear quarter panel at 7am while the car was parked outside my house, that was a lovely thing to be woken up for, car is a total loss because the chassis bent, but the running gear is still going fine, so here we are, insurance went back into paying out the car, and all I have is the wreck to my name. I've decided that the next car I want to own needs to be JDM, miss those cars too much, but I also need something slightly sensible as I drive multiple people around and need space, so I'm going for a Stagea C34 as my next car! I'll be doing more and more research, but the reason I've finally created an account will be for asking tonnes of questions and WTB ads in the forum, so if you know anyone selling a decent Stag let me know (probably 260rs as I want a strong base for 300awkw). I'll also be debating on what to do with the LS3, but at this point I was thinking of either selling it off with the whole wreck or seeing if anyone is keen on swapping for a good RB. Anyways, nice to finally be speaking to anyone here, see you over the forums and at any VIC cruises once I get the Stag up and running. Cheers, Aidan
  2. Hi all. Recently acquired an 89 R32 GTS coupe ( RB20DE, auto ) and decided to sign up to the forum after finding a wealth of good info that has helped me with the few issues I've had to resolve. I purchased the car mid october and while mechanically sound and reliable, the burgandy paintwork was atrocious and needed to be addressed. I spent a week preparing the car for a respray and awaiting the ideal weather conditons to apply the paint. Once content with my preparation ( far from perfect ) and with a warm dry day I tarped up the carport and laid on a black acrylic base-coat, followed by several clear-coats infused with a violet-metallic flake powder, at 5 grams per litre of thinner-diluted clear. The results aren't immaculate, but I'm pretty happy with them. I still have plenty of polishing to do, and re-coated the bonnet earlier today as I just couldn't get it right the first time. The car is pretty much standard except for a pod filter ( exposed ) some interior trim, sports wheel & pedals, and the stereo. I bought it with 224,000km on the clock but it runs fine and feels strong. The only two issues I've encountered so far were replacing the passenger seatbelt ( from an S13 ) as the original jammed repeatedly, and replacing the power-window assembly in the drivers door.   3. Hi All, So after a very long time away from Skylines and the club I have recently re-joined/newed my membership. The last time I was a member was back in 2006/2007 during the early RB30DET building days (page 2 of the dyno results). Well back then I was younger and much more willing to let my impatience get in the way with a willingness to do things on the cheap. This ended up with a RB30DET that ran, but no where near the potential I desired. An extreme lack of budget was the deciding factor on modifications, maintenance and fuel. So 10 years on I got married, completed some higher education (yet for some unknown masochistic reason I'm still doing this) and settled into a career. Since 2008 the old R33 has predominately sat waiting for me to return to it. I imported the car from Japan when I was 18 and knew it was never going to be sold despite some offers over the years. It has been started a few times here and there but mostly neglected. For a few years I suppressed my car related desires with various "car" hobbies such as RC car racing, small event photography and large portions of iRacing (online simulated racing - Very good actually especially in a sim rig). These have not provided enough and my wife even noticed the change in my demeanor and said to me "your not going to get rid of it so do what you want with it". Thus began the restoration plan I have prepared most of what I can think of in an excel document with links to online stores and 95% of it is actual pricing rather than some unrealistic expectation of this being a cheap process. If anybody would be interested I have shared this and would appreciate feedback. A whole lot has changed since back then and I have fully abused the search feature to construct the proposed build. The goal ultimately is to build "my supercar". Currently getting around in my Focus XR5 that I just love, a great car that is not outstanding at any one thing but just heaps of fun in most. I hope to attend a few club events with it. Goal is for a 600HP street car, but I will be very happy with anything 500+. A weekend toy set up with reliable/proven parts and able to be taken to any style of event for some fun. Not in a rush in anyway what so ever, currently thinking this will be a 2 year build.
