Hi guys - Apologies if this is the wrong section So recently had my R34 GTT tuned running an RB25DET neo. Tuner said that at around 5000rpm he can hear a noise when listening in through the knock sensor. The ECU is picking it up as knock sometimes but it isn't actually knock. He said its almost a metal-on-metal sounding noise, and it starts at 5000rpm and dissapears at 5.5 every single time. Cannot hear it from outside the car, only when listening in through the knock sensor. I'm hoping for some help in narrowing down what it is. My dyno numbers are perfectly fine (will upload the sheet later tonight), power curve is stable etc. He believes it is something harmonic related as it is only at that RPM range. Have done runs with VCT disabled and it still makes it so that is not the culprit. He has suggested to me that it may be the intake cam gear although he's very rarely heard of them failing. My issue is they are a stupidly expensive part to replace for a "potential" fix. His other suggestions have been potential scoring on the cam lobes. Have you guys got any input on this? So noise starts every single run at basically dead on 5000rpm, stops at 5500. Almost a really fast " drdrdrdrdrdr" noise (best way i can describe it). One other thought by him was potentially a lifter. Unsure if this matters, but the car's running an S2 RB25DET neo, nistune ECU, 14psi boost, front mount, full exhaust, cold air intake. Car is also only 104,000kms. Car still drives perfectly fine and would have had no idea anything was making noise had he not told me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys i made a post in the past about a strange noise my motor has been making on the dyno. It is only heard through the knock sensor when listening in to it, and starts bang on 5krpm and stops around 5.5k every run without fail. Almost sounds like a very fast ‘ddrrddrrddrrddrr’ (best way i can describe the noise on here). Cannot be heard just listening normally. The ECU is picking this noise up and pulling timing occasionaly because of it, but me and my tuner are stumped as to what it is. It appears to be coming from somewhere in the head area of the motor (at least thats what it sounds like). I’m coming here to look for advice on where to look. The cambelt has just been done with all new pulleys is etc, and has been done properly as I was lead to believe that could be a potential culprit. Disabling the VCT does not affect it, noise is there whether that is on or not. Has anyone else had experience with this or any advice on what it could be? Tuner is thinking it may be my intake cam gear, but has never heard of them failing before. Should also add compression is fantastic on all 6 cylinders, and car only has 105,000kms. Any advice and input is much appreciated!

Hello, so i have my aftermarket coolant gauge wired to an sensor in the upper hose, the 2 wires can be seen going into the sensor, but I want to use the existing port that is for the stock coolant gauge. The problem is there are 2 wires going to the sensor i have now in the upper hose, but only 1 going into the stock location where i want to wire my aftermarket gauge too. What do I have to do to wire it? I dont think the stock sensor is a 1/8th npt size either? (pictures below) Thanks for any help

OK so need some help please people just turbod my na r34 and am checking if what it's doing is OK before my tune on Thursday OK so I'll start with parts I'm running... And post problem last Rb25de neo R33 5speed gearbox conversion Was using rb25 one but think was near dead New rb25turbo hasn't arrived yet R33 turbo manifold Gtt injectors R32gtst4det fuel pump Power FC ecu stock gtt base tune atm Big front mount cooler Turbo smart bleed valve New 3"pipe decat and r32 custom dump R34na 02sensor R32gtst4det afm I wired in also tried 34 na one OK so my problem is it misses bad under boost only.. disconnect turbo runs sweet can this be my ign timing when boosting? Just want it all good and ready for my first tune as never had one what should I get done in the tune and what boost 5? And just get fuel/air and some timing pulled/retard etc...also haven't tried yet as my new turbo is on its way but the one I was using was blowing smoke and whining and no matter what it was stuck on 7-8 psi my hand controller wouldn't turn it down so waste gate? Over boost could've been the problem? -

RB25DET head for sale Note: This head has been modified to suit a RB30 Bottom end, whilst Retaining VCT (PROPERLY!) Head work Completed: - Full clean up - New welsh & oil plugs, - Decked - Crack Tested - Straightness Tested - Full Valve Cut - New Set of Valve Stem Seals - Certain Plugs welded as per high HP requirements - Weld and Fit new VCT Boss - Weld and Shut front Oil Feed to head (this head owes me $1800) Story: First motor I ran in failed, this Head was on it. The Head had some alloy in it from the oil pump. The head has been cleaned out, and came up good, but I would recommend probably be cleaned again for good measure and plugs replaced. I would also recommend new lifters as the lifters that were in it obviously will have some ally inside, so would recommend new lifters. (I have cleaned them and they seem ok and have put th em in their original positions, however, I wouldn't take the chance if it was me) can sell with original cams (that were not in the motor when it failed and they are in VGC, these are the original cams from this Head, the cams that were on the head were tomei ones. The cam bearings and cap shells got scuffed a bit, but Linished up well and are within spec. (feel free to re-measure) I wanted to keep the head as a spare, and if no one buys I definitely will, else... Asking $650 ono. Item is in Brisbane, Pickup only. Hey All, Thought I would keep track of my build and take advantage of some of the internets wisdom. The base car, Factory manual rb20e laurel in all its boaty glory First purchase was the iconic hood emblem followed by some more appropriate wheels, 15x6.5 weds albinos Now to where im at now, Decided the 20e just wasnt providing the punch the car deserved, so in comes a gtst 20det. Also managed to pick up some s13 suspension to solve boaty issue, Cusco adjusties all round seem to have solved the ride height. Now heres where i ask for your help, Realisticly can i expect the factory 20det turbo to function without the watercooling installed? Plan is to not run it for long but i would hope for more than a few hours of life.

I have for sale a complete RB25 turbo kit, EXCEPT the turbo as weird as it sounds. Includes Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, fuel reg, injectors, throttle body, crossover (aka J-pipe) pipe, front mount intercooler piping, GTR front mount intercooler, metal turbo intake pipe, all silicon joiners, NISTune ECU, Z32 AFM, Z32 plug with wiring, braided turbo oil feed line, water hard lines, turbo oil drain. From my understanding this is LITERALLY EVERYTHING needed to convert your NA to turbo, so will save you a whole lot of hassle from trying to find all the little random parts. Will post but obviously at buyers expense. ECU and Z32 AFM for sale seperately but would like to sell as a complete package. Really not 100% sure what a price on this is but i'll say $1500 which i think is fairly reasonable. Once again PLEASE NOT TURBO IS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH IT IS SHOWN IN PHOTO, that is the easiest thing to find, they are readily available everywhere.
