Failed rego transfer, can't find import and seating plate on E51 Elgrand Just tried to transfer rego for an Elgrand I picked up interstate (NSW car, trying to rego in TAS). Mechanic couldn't find the Import plate, or the Seating plate, and also said the VIN number (under panel beside driver seat) was the Japanese one, and not the "modified Australian VIN with extra digits". Anyone have any ideas? I transferred the rego in NSW into my name no problems when I bought the car, then moved down to Tas and tried to transfer it to local rego here and no luck. Rego papers match Jap VIN and have the extra numbers in front, so it's obviously somewhere on the car and was found previously to rego it in NSW. I've looked all under the bonnet, and anywhere else I can think of, and they put it on the hoist and looked around underneath and can't find anything. I didn't get any import papers with it, it was imported a while ago and passed through a couple owners since then. Previous owner doesn't have a clue either, bought it rego'd and just re-regoed with no issues. Thanks in advance.

hi, this is an unconventional question, and I don't know if it's actually allowed.... (if not please suggest where I could post), I have an apwe50 2001 elgrand vq35 with spun cam bearing. Weve already replaced the car but I would prefer to sell the e50 going than as a wreck. Anyway what i am hoping to find is a sydney mechanic interested in some weekend work. I'm happy to pay per hour or split the profit, it's only worth $1000 as is. It's range topping XL 4wd with all the bling, inc 'capt's chairs', leather, raised with BFGs, LPG, original paperwork, 155km, so should fetch at least $7k... cheers Adrian, Ashfield 0438 936056
