  1. Hey Guys so i finally got my dream car, the first car that i ever took notice of in my life, might get some shit off this but it was when paul walkers skyline poped onto the tv screen and i fell in love with the car, and here i am with my very own. Decided to name it Gigan named after one of the monsters in the Godzilla Universe, was going to go with Ghidorah but the name doesnt fit the number plate if i were to get one from my plates, here are pictures below, hopefully they are not terrible. Front what i was able to find out on the vin plate, the paint is original, this is a 2001 25GT GTV Series 2 (I dont know if the GTV Series 2 means anything) with 119xxx on the clock with an NA Neo Engine, Most of the car is stock, The Exhaust hasnt been touched, Front bumper is after market, Aftermarket Head Unit With Sub in Boot, Aftermarket enclosed box and pod filter, came with the original Maintenance Note, with Japanese manuals and infomation, (Kenwood, mine is jvc head unit, Viper security and a notebook) The guy who i bought it off threw in a Big aftermarket GT wing, short shifting kit, he put about 4 grand into it before he let it go to me, (New heavy duty clutch) He genuinely loved it and now its my job to do the same, any and all feedback would be appriciated. *Questions* Thought id get these out of the way so i dont pollute any other forums with questions done to death so if anyone ventures onto this thread they might be able to help me out* I put the vin through gtr registry and the vin says its turbo at the start then later on it says its not turbo, does this mean its turbo ready or something? Are the S Badges on this car actual skyline badges or are they silvia or aftermarket badges (Refer to steering wheel and the bottom of the engine photo for S badge on the mesh. The left hand side of my boot is more open than the right side and i dont want any moisture in there (Refer to close up boot photo) Any suggestions? Are there any cost efficient styling tips would anyone recommend, i quite like the black on blue look Getting alot of shit for my gutter rashed wheels, would you guys have any recommendations for replacement rims The Enclosed box stuck out to some, under investigation the bottom of it has a hole smaller than the actual air piping to the engine so it doesnt look like its sucking in enough air, any ideas would be appriciated here (Has a pod filter in it) Some engine parts are heat wrapped, i dont know if this is beneficial or not as its supposed to keep heat out but wouldnt that keep heat in? Just a jab, any thoughts
  2. Hi all, Looking at moving from nz to western Australia and bringing my s14 200sx with me. I'm pretty sure nz got the same spec 200sx but without the ADR tags. So, I'll need to fit a high flow cat? Of do I wait until it arrives in strata for this? What's the go with minor panel damage? She's had a bit of a hard life nothing structual just dented guards.do I need to get it panel beaten or would it be OK? I'm assuming a rear fibreglass bumper and missing front bumper reinforcement would be a problem but I'll get that sorted. Last things are I have a hks ssqv bov that vents externally which I believe is illegal in oz? I can get an adaptor and reroute it into the air intake if neccesary. And I have a hole in the battery tray- battery's in the boot- for the intercooler piping. I plan on welding in a section of steel with a pressed factory hole I cut off a wreck so it looks factory. I appreciate any input cheers andrew
  3. Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has complied a car through these guys? If so what was your experience? I have a r32 GTR booked in to be complied by them (when it finally is arrives) and was not sure what to expect. Any experiences would be appreciated. Cheers
  4. Hi All Not sure if anyone is already aware, but the $1000 duty free threshold (where you don't pay any GST or import duty on items costing less than $1000) is due to change at the end of this year. 2015 will see the threshold drop to $200 and 2016 it will be $0. If you are thinking of getting parts in for a project or anything up-to $1000, it is best done this year if you want to avoid the Duty/ GST (anything from $225 upwards) plus additional cost of actually lodging an import declaration ($50 - $95+). cheers Dan00h
  5. I just read this thread on wrx.com.au; http://forum.wrx.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=74513 Very interesting read, from the guy that bought a 2 door STi at auction with GX plates, the investigation by the members and the revelation at the end of the thread that the guy wants to sell the car with 100% markup irrespective of its shady past. A seriously good lesson to be learned; Dont trust dealers Do your homework on any car you want to buy Dont be evil - own up if you make a mistake, dont pass that shit on to somebody else. Don't trust dealers Any car plate / compliance / purchase horror stories like this one?

  7. Good morning all I am about to enter the process of importing an R32 GTR into SA from japland. I'm looking to finance roughly $20k which i intend to cover the vehicle and all importing/ compliance costs, rego and on-road costs separately. I actually work in vehicle financing so i understand the ins and outs but i'm looking for options and feedback. which banks have you used, what rates you have experienced and how or if you were able to overcome some basic problems such as the catch 22 of securing a vehicle with is not here yet. Ok, so first off the easy method is cash i know... The second option is line of credit from my mortgage but my equity is for another property so i wont be touching it. Now, to the options i need your feed back on. - Unsecured personal loan. Easy to get for the amount i need. The rates i'm looking at through peoples choice credit union are about %12 Easy to use but not wanting to pay interest i don't need to if i don't have to. If you used a personal unsecured loan what rate did you get and by which financial institution? if its reasonable i will consider it but the second option i'm hoping is a possibility which is.... - secured personal loan. Obviously Better rates, I expect from peoples choice around %8 fixed for 5 years I have had loans for grey imports (already regoed in Australia) before with a+ conduct so they have pre-approved the $20k for another. My issue is that they need the vehicle to be registered in aust with most importantly a full 17digit AUST vin to release the funds. They will pay the full invoice for vehicle and importing costs and will need to pay the importer directly which is good. This means i need funds to pay the man for the car but cant be done until imported to aust so catch 22. If i had to I can cover this with my own cash currently on my mortgage and reimburse myself later but I would be relying on the honesty of the importer to refund the double payment (one payment from myself to actually import and one from the bank who must pay the invoicing importer).... i'm a trusting person but it could become an issue and its a choppy process at best. OK so, If you used a personal secured loan what rate did you get and by which financial institution? How did you go about paying your importer, were they willing to front the costs for a full payment at the end (after deposit)? any advice on how to go about this method?

  9. Just a quick question, as the title says. J-Spec says you can (http://www.j-spec.com.au/lineup/Nissan/Stagea/C34/id-031), but TradeCarView says you can't (https://www.tradecarview.com/used_car/japan%20car/nissan/stagea/16623971/). Which is true?

  13. Hi Guys, It is with great regret that i write this post. I had bought a mint condition 1994 R32 GT-R from the auctions in japan a few months ago and was waiting in anticipation for its arrival in Sydney. It did make it to the port in Wollongong (Port Kembla) where it had been for the past week awaiting clearance. On friday i was notified by the freight company that the car had cleared customs and would be shipped to the compliance workshop early this week. Then today i received a call in which i learnt that my car had been stolen from the docks. After waiting around 9 weeks since purchase and being so close to acquiring my car, you can understand how i am feeling at this point in time. So, could you guys please keep your eyes peeled for a a silver 1994 R32 GT-R with 17" Gold BBS LM's. its fairly stock so i dont believe it would be stripped down and sold for parts. the car is fitted with a HKS EVC, has a small bubble on the left side of the dash and has around 85,000kms. Please help me find the crooks who did this! Thanks, Gian
  14. Changes to import laws There was a lot of hype and promise around changes to vehicle importing legislation about a year ago. However, it seems most of this has completely disappeared off the legislative radar. I thought 3 changes were planned; 1. Allowing Australians to import a new car 2. Reducing prohibitions of used cars by relaxing the year of manufacture from pre-1989, to a 25 year rule 3. Changes to SEVS It now seems only Item 1 is due to get up (in fact it is now 'going to happen') - however even this appears to have been massively watered down. From what I can see, the rules are pretty onerous, but essentially, mean that Australians are limited to obtaining a RHD car from UK or Japan that is 12 months old at most (presumably by the time it rolls into a RAWS workshop - meaning 9 months when it is purchased overseas) and 500klms max (meaning 450klms for safety's sake lest those managing the logistics take it for a drive.....certainly no driving a car on trade plates to a RAWS...lest the 500klms be breached). From what I can see.....there's little scope for anyone to be interested in privately importing such a car - simply because the time, the risks and the issues (no warranty, etc), but mainly - the lack of depreciation as the car is essentially still a demonstrator model - mean we'd be better off buying the locally delivered model. I can see some scope for those who want cars that beat waiting lines at the showroom.....or special requests on specs.....but not really an economic advantage. Thoughts?
  15. What is this box? Hey guys first time using this so not even sure if I'm doing it right, just a quick question if anyone can answer what this box is? just brought this R34 GTR bayside blue from Japan and waiting for it to get here but just want to know what is in my car haha.
  16. Is it legal to import and register a Nissan Stagea in America? Hello, I'm a teen relatively new to the "tuner" scene. I discovered the work of art the is ,the Stagea, and would really love to own one. I've seen online estimations for the cost to buy and import one to the nearest port to where I live (which is in the U.S). The numbers are in my budget, but now I do not really know if it would be possible to legally import and register one. If there is somewhere I could go to find this info, or one of you already know, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Caleb
