I’m on my way back from work when all of a sudden it feels like I lose one cylinder. Missfireing like crazy running real rough. I get back home and start trouble shooting what’s going on. Turns out one of my coil packs died but while I had all the spark plugs out I thought I’d give my new compression tester a go. Much to my dismay all 6 cylinders were around 110 psi. (full report below) I don’t believe this to be the cause of the misfire as I’m %99 my coil was munted. But still 110 psi in all 6 cylinders isn’t good. I’ve got a few ideas what could be causing the problem. But any input or ideas would be great. I’m thinking it could be worn piston rings or possibly ringland failure. Although I find it hard to believe the ringland failed on all 6 cylinders. Also The engine only has 150k on it and is basically stock only thing I’ve done to it is upped the boost from 7 to11psi nothing crazy. But what I think the problem most likely is, is my timing belt is starting to go or skipped a tooth or something and is throwing the timing off and therefore the compression. But hey I’m just some hopeless 18 year old. If any of y’all have the slightest idea what could be going on some guidance would be greatly appreciated.? hey guys. compression test was carried out on my rb25det. 110 allround besides cylinder 3 which read 65. the car has the standard bolt ons ( full exhaust, fmic) and has a garrett t04. standard ecu. now the question is, will it be ok if i run the same turbo on a second hand rb25det. will be kept on 7psi. will be planning on gettinn it tuned sometime next year. basically wana know if its safe to run a bigger turbo on a standard motor with standard ecu on lowboost till i can get it tuned?

Hi all, big reader but not a big poster on SUA but i have bit of a problem that i need some advice with, i have an option to buy a nice looking R33 GTST RB25DET with GT35 turbo pushing 350rwhp. its at 150,000k's, its rego'd and he's putting adjustable bilstien shocks on koz he want to keep his coilies that he has on (which i don't mind) He is asking $3500 for it, only real issue is is that he said it has 'low compression', there is no smoke though, also doesn't come with ECU and the g/box grinds a bit into 4th (only if you change fast) apart from that its alright. so im not sure if its worth it? whats everyone's opinions? Pretty sure my options are scrap the engine and put new one in or rebuild? PS: it would be used as a drift car, i also have another R33 but its for street

Hi guys, New guy here looking for some advice on where to go next in my diagnosis. I have a '96 R33 GTS-T pretty much stock, it started running a bit rough a couple of months back but i only just got off my ass to investigate it. So i checked my spark plugs, found cylinder 6 was black/ oily. I did a compression test, the first 5 cylinders showed 120psi, but the 6th cylinder showed only 20psi....... yes, 20. We didn't have a proper cylinder leakage tester but i had a connecter and plugged an air line into the spark plug bore with the engine at TDC and air came rushing out of the pod filter. So obviously there is a problem with the inlet valve/s on cylinder 6? I was hoping you guys could give me some insight into what the actual problem might be and how i go about confirming and rectifying the issue? And will i have to replace rings as well? Im not sure where to go from here and how much work im looking at. I was planning on selling the car soon so i dont want to spend too much time and money on it. Your input would be appreciated, Cheers, Sean.
