  1. Hello lads, a naïve p-plater here. I've had an unholy thought of swapping the rb25 for a barra once it goes out (whenever that happens, sitting on 215k atm, i know these engines are resilient). Has this been done before? Any tips or should i steer clear and buy a gtt, cheers
  2. Im just starting out as a mechanic so im very new to modifying cars but i have a Enr34 and im looking to get more power out of it without adding a turbo could someone suggest some modifications to it that could help it i already have a catback straight pipe and hks cold air intake
  3. hey new to this site so dont know if anyones posted or tried this, ive seen some stroker kits for rb25 but all of them were for turbo versions only, just wonderingt if they would fit fine on a rb25de? or if not im looking at gaining alot more power from my n/a 34 willing to spend a bit of cash to get it real nice thanks jimmy
  4. Gday all, not sure why im doing this(the sound???im going mad???)but anyway ive got a rb30 lying around and some gtr throttles also and thought id put them to use. Plan is to do away with the rb26 head>throttle piece of alloy and make a kinda triple dcoe manifold using the base of the rb30 plenum and some bits and bobs welded on, similar to this: My only questions are how long should the runners be?(was thinking shorter the better but have to avoid the water inlet)and also how the hell can i get it to run?(mods to the head?standalone ecu?) i have the gtr plenum so could i use the rb30 afm/tps etc and hope for the best? ive never modified anything like this before so id just like a little advice. Thanks in advance if anyone can help. Steve
  5. Recently put a r33 rb25de in our r32. Starts fine and idles perfectly however as soon as you go to drive it, it lacks power under throttle and runs "spluttery" ? Have replaced afm, coils, o2 sensor, fuel filter and pump and still no improvement. We are stumped as to what the problem might be. The problem"spluttery" driving feel seems to be proportional to accelerator position and not rpm. Have checked and adjusted tps and have app plugged in. Any help greatly appreciated!! :-)
  6. Hey peeps, Iv got an R33 that has recently had an R34 motor put into it by a reputable shop. Im just wanted to double check that this is going to be fine and be reliable long term. Essentially its just the R34 N/A (block/head) into an R33 so all R33 stuff including the computer running it. Is this going to be fine or what? For example, one thing i have noticed is that (via consult cable) the base operating temp is 85 degrees. Which i hear the R34's were designed to run hotter n therefore have a higher temp thermostat in them. But is this going to be ok with the R33 ECU running the show? Otherwise the timing map etc of the R33 ecu running the R34? are the compressions and cam duartion the same? cheers

  8. Wondering what the simplest way to improve exhaust sound would be? Open to replacing whole exhaust system / buying catback with Cannon tip or similar ~ just want to have a decent sounding n/a without having to go turbs (literally JUST got P plates, despite having driven for 4+ years).   10. Hello, I've brought this up before with no solution, just wanted to try again. I've got a 2.5" catback exhaust with 2 resonators. There is a tiny muffler on the end of the exhaust, my problem is that it still drones. Is it even possible to get a RB25de to have a clear sound without drone at all? What are some people running on their Catback systems?

Okay I'm looking for a 5/6 spoke racing wheels for my N/A R34 coupe, I have found several and currently choosing between varrstoen 2.2.1 and the rota grid and GTR'D/P45R but I'm having trouble picking one due size and fitments, I want P45R's but I want to go 18's but the only available width's are 9.5 and 10.5 at 12+ offset which apparently sit outside the guards which I do not want I want to keep it flush and lined up inside the guard, NOW I've been told that it can be down the back ones will sit in but it's just the front 2 wheels which will need camber arrangements and guard rolling but it'll still sit outside??? the guard..I just need some inform and recommended sizes and fitments? But the rota girds would fit perfectly fine because they have sizes available 18's by 8.5 with offsets from 12+ to 30+ which will fit fine but my only concern is that the spoke style is a little aggressive for an R34 25GT opinions would be awesome?> if any one has them maybe a photo? and my last question is the Varrstoen 2.2.1 they only have 18 by 9.5 but the offsets go from 12+ to i think 30+ which to what I think the wheels will sit inside the guard fine or the camber/tyre will need to adjusted? In the end I want that concave dish fill like with te37's on a GTR R34 cheers thank you

Can someone please suggest a size wheel, width and offset for me to put on my r34 25gt that will fit flush, inside the guard and have a concave/deep dish feel to it, I'll be extremely thankful cheers guys I am chosing between Varrstoen 2.2.1 Rota grid Rota P45R Koya drift tek if you have pictures that be wicked cool if you posted them
  13. Im looking to do a tune on my car with SAFC II but i thought it would be a definite waste without a full exhaust system. Anyone know where in Sydney i can pick some up, all i can find is ebay ones for $600 im looking to spend a bit less then that. If anyone knows a place, let me know. Thanks.
  14. After looking at rb30 conversions using det heads, I was thinking of swapping the head of my NA neo rb25 for the det neo head and running a forward facing inlet plenum. Was wondering if anyone out there has done or heard of anything like this?? I know I'd have to make a custom intake, swap the battery sides and probably run the det AAC/IAC and maybe TPS? Any opinions?

  16. Hi guys I have been on this forum reading for past year or so very infomrative considering I had no idea about these RB engines a year back ( still noob). For this this topic I did search and read some threads but they were very old threads so rather then bumping them starting a new one for get some answers. I have an S30 project which is almost done running a RB25DETT Neo in it. ( thread on hybridZ http://forums.hybrid...60#entry1025367) I want to do a RB26/30 NA engine and run it on triple carbs same like people in Japan doing it. The purpose of the car is occasional track days, weekend /daily drive during winter time (it gets really hot in summer here in dubai). I dont need a very high rev engine I can live with 6.5-7k in the beginning. I bought a RB30NA engine off a Nissan Patrol and also got hold of RB26DETT head as well. I also got an adapator plate from a bloke in New Zealand which can fiit DOCE carbs on one side and from behind it will fit on stock RB26 intake manifold, there is also modified intake manifold with closed injector places and re routed water lines. Now here people are not that much of help for NA builds and specially with RB26 head. I wanted to do with RB25 head as easier to get NA RB25 here but that adapator plate saved a lot of work so went with RB26 head. First major issue coming is the engine compression now can anyone guide where and which pistons to get to increase the engine compression. I have seen people mentioning using RB25 pistons in RB30 blocks but with RB25 head here no clue. Apart from tapping holes for the head studs and drilling for tensioner to fit the bigger belt is there anthing else required? Last whats the best solution to run the ignition here either to go for something electronic or distributor style.
  17. so I have an R33, non turbo auto, sedan, I've only had it for a few days and today on the way to the rego place and back it cut out randomly three times while I was driving. The first time it cut out while I was turning into the car park, I stopped, turned the key to off and straight away turned it on again and it was fine to park. The second time I was driving at about 80km up a hill, it cut out for a bit, then fired up again, then a couple of seconds later it cut again and I had to pull over. I tried to start it again but it wouldn't fire and idle. I went and tested the battery with my multimeter and it was showing 12.8 volts so as wasn't thinking it was an electrical issue. Hopped back in the car and it started up straight away and I took off until about 500m from house where it cut out a third time, same sequence as the second except the road I was on is fairly flat. Before I tried to start it again but it wouldn't fire... now I'm here hoping someone can give me some suggestions. I am new to R33s and Skylines in general. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guys! just about too finish my rb25de conversion on my 32, and i'm quite keen to run ITB'S on it and i don't really know whats needed to go ahead just wanted too see who has done it and -What parts are needed -How much roughly its going to cost -If its actually worth the time effort money I know people say N/A's are a waste of time ect But i do have a track car thats fully built and i'v seen some n/a weapons that are, plus its my daily!!   21. Hey all i wanna know the cylinder compression for an rb25de NON vct from the r32 I believe the compression for a vct rb25de is 9:5:1 and the neo's are 10:1 (as im told) can someone help me cant find it anywhere else
  22. hi guys lookin for some help as im stumped so the problem is I have built myself a simple little drift missile but the response is *weird*? say I whip a couple of nuts then go to snake off as soon is I blip the gas off then hard back on it dies as if a total cut then comes back on perfect again but by then traction is gained and its all over. same thing winding out a gear and changing up, rev all the way (no tach yet) smash next gear.... biiiig dead spot , foot still firmly planted, one or two tiny ignitions then back on song no missing broad minded persontering nothing, ruining my skids, so guess I shood drop a mod list c33 laurel originally rd28 diesel manuel c34 rb25de wired in like factory, knock sensors, acc valve valve everything works , even hooked up the start signal wire stainless 3-1 extractors into 3" exhaust with 1 hi flow muffler pod filter with cold air box, doesnt have a feed into it , is just blocked off from engine bay and taking air from behind the light etc diesel flywheel p plate, clutch and gear box fuel is a 30l fuel cell with surge tank, hi vol pump into tank and a vl rb30 efi pump to motor, still running factory flushed diesel hard lines, (small return) and using the fatory fuel pressure reg thing on the return, (I assume that's what it is) plugs are iridims and gaped to.8 any help would be great, this makes it no fun to drive

  24. Has anyone set up a pod filter inside their air box for cool air because of the feed to the front? I look at my airbox in the R34 but it seems like one wouldnt be able to fit, any suggestions?

Hey guys i have spoken to one of my modification mechanic's and we are putting a turbo in my gt25 engine i am currently looking for a gt-t r34 that is only for parts i need all the turbo stuff i need to get it going on my engine and the 3 gauges in the middle of the dash i will put in. Something like the attachment would be perfect only looking for spend under 3 grand here. All victorians and melbournians look out for me and chuck us a msg if you know someone who wants to get rid of one of someplace you know where to get one.
