  1. My RB25 is lately struggling to get to 5k rpm it feels like it's not boosting. It gets to about 4.5-5k then splutters. It is usually 580hp and would usually scream instantly to 7k rpm in seconds. I have also noticed it is idling really high. Like 1500 rpm which makes me think maybe a vac hose has come off or something. The microtech dash is reading boost but I am not feeling it. If idle is high, would that suggest vac is leaking somewhere after the throttle body? IMG_5140.mov
  2. Hello, Ive just completed my Rb25det neo swap into my r32. Its having a miss on idle, I get RB's dont idle great anyway but i just wanted to get an idea on what might be causing it. Below vid sounds a bit like my car (but isnt my car) My engine is fully stock, just front mount and a walbro fuel pump. I have a cheap FPR I'll chuck in to make sure its not getting too much fuel. I have only done one pull since the swap and it felt ok, I just wanted to make sure it was safe before I take it for a proper drive. Cheers
  3. So like i have an rb25det in a nissan laurel, and it has a transmission hooked up to it.since i bought the car it had an issue whereby when accelerating, the car seemed to be slow and sluggish, like if it was lacking air,and after a while it drived like normal, also it had an idle problem (only when in drive not park)the car would give a bad idle as if it had bigger cams,(not that it had any). This idle problem wasnt constant though,it happened randomly. But when the accelerator was floored it ran like a beast.however i recently had a problem when i put the car into reverse.immediately it would shut off.no bogging nothing just cuts off as if i turned the key off.i was wondering if yall could shoot some ideas my way. Thanks in advance
  4. Hi I just bought a r34 non turbo and it has a loud rattling noise after 2000 revs and a miss fire on cylinder 6 so she is ticking over a bit rough. Anyone got any idea what could be wrong with it have looked around the forums a bit but haven't really found an answer. I was thinking it was a lifter that was stuck but from what I read they are solid lifters so I see that the Neo engines have vtc solen ides on the intake valves could it have something to do with this and how would I check etc any help would be great full or is there shims on the lifters that might have been thrown off the lifter just find it rather strange that there is no noise when ticking over just the rough idle hope fully 1 of ye can help me cheers
  5. hey guys ive had my S1.5 GTSt for a while now, around 6 months and since not long after i bought it there has been an intermittent missfire, doesnt seem to be caused by anything imparticular and nothing particular seems to stop it, sometimes even turning the car off then restarting doesnt help but it generally never lasts longer than 30 seconds and then stops. it only did it once at a track day and it had only done 1 lap, then ran fine all day, and does it maybe every 2nd day if i drive it around a lot thanks
  6. Hi All, I have a bit of an issue I can't put my finger on and I am hoping the SAU community can help. I recently imported a 33 GTR and when I drive the car and keep it at a steady 3500 rpm there's a miss. Below and over 2500 rmp the car runs ok. Having said that the fuel consumption is very bad and there's plenty of back fire in normal driving. I have done my home work and searched on this site and Google and the below have been helpful but not solved my issue. (32 Gtr) Odd Missfiring At Low Revs (idle To 3k) R32 Gtr Misfiring Spluttering And Chewing Fuel GTR RB26 Misfire Under Boost and Coil Pack Fix What I have done: Changed spark plugs to NGK BCPR7ES which I chose after reading a thread on SAU Changed the fuel filter Changed the CAS Changed the pod filters to airbox Changed AFM Changed BOV's and checked piping was on tight Changed the coil packs and sealed them with dielectric goo as the YouTube video suggested The car sounds a little rough on idle but I am not sure if this is because the cam timing as the in was set to 0 and ex 2 degrees retarded. I noticed this when I did a full service on the car and I changed my timing belt. HKS cam gears came as a surprise. (the car was missing before the service) The only thing I haven't changed is my injectors and fuel reg as one of the topics said that possibly could be the issue. Before I start removing the fuel rail, injectors and reg is there anything else that could be causing this issue? All your input will be greatly appreciated as I am stumped! Thanking everyone in advanced.
  7. R33 s2 1996 missfire I brought this car 2 days ago and between 5500 and 6000 rpm she missfires the owner before me had put spark plugs in the car that were 4 dollars each, i went to auto one and they said they should be 25 each the engine being a rb25det would this be why she miss fires?? Any help is appreciated!? thanks in advance
  8. Hi Thanks to anyone who has taken the time to think about my cars issue. Below are the mods done to my car in a little more detail but firstly im asking if anyone has experienced a similar issue to me and what you have done to resolve it. Secondly if anyone has any suggestions on the next step in the process then im also interested to hear it! My car has developed a misfire, actually its more like a hard cut rev limiter at about 5200rpm if under load. At idle or lighter load it can rev higher. The wideband indicates the AFR is not changing when the problem starts. The plugs all look fine. Fuel pressure is available (checked while under load on dyno). Symptoms are the same no matter what gear its in. Already Tried: Checking Plugs, replaced, and gapped them progressively tighter until getting as low as 0.3. Replaced with Iridium plugs at .8, then refit new copper at .6 - No change. New Coil Packs - No Change New Leads - No change New injectors - No Change New Crank Angle Sensor (checked with timing light to top dead) - No change Disconected turbo compressor from intake to test with no boost. - no change Some more details about the car. built motor, T04Z Turbo - no maf sensors Haltech Platinum 2000 Ls1 Coilpacks huge fuel system Im sure ive left out some key info however ill come back and add anything the moment i remember it.
  9. R33 gtst missfiring problem? Hi everyone, This is my first post and I'm after some help. After reading many threads about people's misfires in their r33 s1 gtst I can't come to a resolution of my problem. I have a fmic, full exhaust, 10psi. Under full throttle any gear it makes a mini gun rapid fire out the exhaust with no power. Does not happen when gradually accelerating. I have replaced since it first started; fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs gapped to 0.9 (previous plugs were 0.8 and same issue), tried original and super spark coil pack both second hand. Still am having problems Could it be my igniter? The problem was not there before I installed fmic and bumped up boost. I haven't yet tried sealing my coilpacks with high temp sealant. I have my car booked in for highflow and tune monday so would like to get it fixed before then Any advice would be awesome Cheers Mitch
  10. Rb26 intermittent miss, runs a bit off. Sarted after driving in heavy rain. Hey everyone. Im a bit stumped and perplexed at this point. I have a 99 stagea 260rs. It has an apexi power fc, other wise stock engine. Anyways i went with a friend to go look at a cheap Delica an hour away on the weekend, on the drive back it was a nasty downpour. I noticed when i took over driving the engine sounded a bit off at idle when i stopped to switch seats with my friend. Got home and when holding the revs at 2-3k rpms a noticeable intermittent miss occurs. At idle the car sounds off, almost more of a honda sound with a rice can, same as revving under load it has a riced out honda sound (as funny as that sounds). This all happened after driving in really heavy rain for over an hour. It's also revving just bit higher as well. I noticed the commander will say 900 rpms for current revs while the tach reads about 1050. It sounds like a bit faster idle as well Only 2ks ago i put in new plugs ngk bcpr7eix, and put on super spark coil packs when i got the car. I was thinking a plugin or coil pack got wet. After the rain i have gone and pulled any plug i could find including the ignitor, and dryed with compressed air then applied dielectric grease to each plug as well. No difference. I pulled all the coilpacks and even pulled a plug. I bought new coppers to run, but after pulling the new irdium plugs i decide dto keep them in there as no evidence of of foul plugs was present. The plug looked in great shape and no coil packs or plugs were wet. I installed my old set of stock coilpacks and no difference either. I can hear a noticeable miss from each cylinder when i pull each coil pack plug as well so its not one individual/constant miss. I have a friend with a spare igniter that i am going to try as well. I'm not really sure what next to do. I also checked the wiring but didnt seem to notice anything change while checking the ignition harness and plugins. I was thinking fuel but i dont think so as im not getting a knock but it could be fuel im not sure. The fuel filter is fresh as well but i can change that too. When i was going through the apexi fc commander i noticed that the second O2 sensor is sending no voltage or 0.04V so im guessing that's gone. I don't know if that would cause the miss tho. There is an aftermarket grounding kit that goes to the ignitor as well. I had to put on larger north american terminals and can't get the greatest contact but after adjusting he grounding kit there was no difference. Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm a bit stumped and i was considering selling my stagea then this develops. Thanks!
  11. Hi all, So I did a service on my R34 GT-R V-Spec (Oil, oil filter, front/rear diffs, gearbox, coolant & spark plugs) & fitted a Trust 13 row Oil Cooler with Re-locator. As I couldnt get the oil filter off (trying a few different types of universal oil filter wrenches) I ended up damaging it... now to cut a long story short I ended up taking the inlet manifold off & was then able to get it. Now after all work was completed I had the car running to bleed the coolant and check for any leaks. At first I didnt have the rev issue, but as the car warmed up I noticed that I couldnt rev past 2,400RPM. Even when I go full throttle, It just missfires and doesnt go any higher. So I had a look around & noticed a slight leak from the oil cooler relocator plate...which ultimately led to some oil getting into the Ignition control module electrical connection. (If thats what it is called... I have attached an image for ref). So I figured that maybe that was the problem, so I took the ignition control module off & sprayed it with some CRC Automotive Electrical Contact Cleaner (taking each individual pin out and spraying it), but that didnt solve the problem either Would the AAC valve have something to do with it? Cheers for any help guys! (P.S - sorry for making it so long but just wanted to make sure we are on the same page)
