Hi people I’ve got an rb25det neo. Oil pump has been reconditioned. I’m getting consistent oil pressure, however, it’s quite low. At 80•c at idle it’s about 0.8bar and highest it ever gets at 7k rpm is at 3.2bar. 15w50 fully synthetic. I have an aftermarket sensor that is running to the maxxecu. My question is, is my sensor in the correct place? It doubles up at a temp sensor. If I wanted to check it with a mechanical guage, where would I plug it in?

Hi just wanting an opinion. Purchased a rb25det neo. Doing a freshen up on the motor before installing and was told from the mechanic that upon removing the oil cooler housing that the oil pressure relief valve ball bearing fell out. Just wondering if this maybe being loose in the housing would have caused damage to the motor. Or caused oil pressure problems that would affect other components. Engine was running when removed. Has anyone experienced this. Photo uploaded is to show the part that was affected

So i have a 98 r34 gt-t, recently fit in an greddy oil cooler with a built in thermostat sandwich plate. When you start the car when complety cold, the factory oil pressure guage reads correctly, about 4-5 bar at idle. When the oil gets to proper temp the pressure then sits on 2 bars at idle, will go to 3 bars when at 2,000rpm, and 4 bars when at 3,000rpm. If i were to turn the car off, and then start it again, the oil pressure will now read about 1-1.5 bars, 2 bars at 2,000rpm and 3 bars at 4,000rpm. Sometimes the needle will jump up and down and then revert back to reading 2 bars at idle, sometimes it doesnt. Today it was reading correctly, drove it for an hour, guage was reading 2 bars turned it off and started it, guage read about 1.7-1.9 bar, after about 15 or so mins or driving, while sitting at about 3 bars of pressure, i saw the needle drop back down to 1.9bars, i was in 5th gear doing 80kph, about 2,000rpm or so. At idle it would now sit at about 1 - 1.5 bar. I dont get it, is this normal? Is my oil pressure guage faulty? Is the oil cooler and or sandwich plate somehow affecting my oil pressure readings? Also my stock boost guage sometimes completly stops reading and then will randomly go back to reading, so i am hoping its got something to do with faulty guages and not engine related. Any help appreciated thank you!

Hi all, New here, and new owner of an R32 GTR. I have recently bought a digital multi gauge to monitor my boost, oil pressure, oil temp and water temp. An added bonus of this digital gauge is it allows for the input of minimum values before it's safe to start driving and maximum (or minimum) values which, once reached would set off an alarm so you can act accordingly. Despite my best efforts (including searching via the forum and google) I can't seem to find a solid answer for the minimum and maximum ideal values for oil pressure, oil temp and water temp (not boost as obviously that is dependant on the vehicle). I know this may change with engine builds, oil types etc BUT, I am thinking there must be a best guess value for these assuming a stock rb26dett? If I have missed a thread where this is covered I apologise but am happy to be corrected!! Any help is appreciated,

Hey guy, i have done an oil change today, but noticed my oil filter has pushed away from the mounting stud, like it has had too much pressure for it to handle. Its a r32 GTR with a built bottom end and around 400kw at the tyres, it runs a JUN oil pump, I'm not sure of bearing clearances or oil restrictor size as the engine was assembled before i bought the car. Same goes with shimming the Jun pump, i don't know. What I do know is the engine is a bit over 8 bar at 1800rpm when its dead cold, about 3 bar when warm at idle and will have to check further to see what the max oil pressure is when revving to 8000rpm. I was using a DRIFT filter, they have a anti drain back valve and a magnet, i figured it would be a good thing, but thinking now it could be not as good as a ryco for strength as its what i have used on all of my previous cars. I understand the Rb oiling system quite well and know this is quite high pressure, but not unheard of. I'm just after some info from people in the know with aftermarket pumps running them at the full pressure and if this is something anyone else has experienced. I'm not keen on the oil filter blowing off and killing the motor that's for sure......... cheers

Was thinking of installing the Haltech oil pressure sensor in order to take advantage of the Platinum Pro's engine protection feature. Wanted to see if anyone had experience with the protection, how effective it was and get a sense of if it is a reasonable compromise vs installing a high flow pump and extended sump. $400-500 for a sensor and protection setup versus $3500 for the sump and pump. Car is a daily, and I just want peace of mind to be able to track it occasionally. I'm not fussed if a hot lap is cut short by protection if it saves the engine. Already have a wideband sensor and lean out protection. My 34 GTR is running stock turbos at 14psi on e85, but I'm thinking of going to -9s. I've already got an oil cooler, injectors, pump and there hasn't been any head work done at all (no cams, gears, springs, retainers etc) if that makes a difference.

No oil pressure after car sits for a long time So I have a RB25 neo engine that sat and didn't run for years. First time I tried to turn it over I could not get the oil pressure light to turn off after cranking it for along time repeatedly with the crank angle sensor unplugged. The oil pressure switch turned out to be working fine after putting an oil pressure gauge on it while trying to crank the engine and there was absolutely zero oil pressure. Managed to get a hold of an accumsump and push oil through the engine which ended up solving the problem. The engine now has pressure, took the accusump off cranks and runs fine with oil pressure. Ran and drove the car for a few weeks no problems than it sat again for a few months and now back to no oil pressure while cranking the engine with the cas off. Has anyone heard of this problem before? Seems like there has to be some leak between the pump the pick up. I also have quite alot of oil pressure on idle from what I could remember 80 - 90 psi.

So, just wanted to check on what should be happening during ignition and engine run. My oil pressure light doesn't light up before starting nor come on when engine is running. Checked voltage at the bulb and it appears to have 12v on both legs... I know it should light up before starting but only the CEL is coming on. When turning ignition on, the pressure MAP gauge goes to 0 but the oil pressure gauge creeps up to just under the first line. Is this right? I didn't think it'd start to move until it detected pressure. I know the stock oil pressure gauge is useless but my oil light isn't even coming on with ignition so trying to find what could be causing the fault. With the loom unplugged from the pressure switch/gauge I don't get anything either, no creep and no light. Once the car is running, the pressure gauge creeps up to the first line but doesn't increase with revs. I'm not so worried about the gauge, more about the light but I still wanted to confirm if the oil pressure gauge creeps up when you turn the key to ignition. I'm running an RB25DET Neo with a S2 R33 loom and Z32 ECU. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki47Ita4Ps4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3N0mpzER8Gw

Hi guys ok so been having this issue for quite sometime now.. Originally i thought as well as the mechanics.. it had something to do with the big end bearings. But upon droppping the oil over and over again i have not found and metal pices or shrapnel in the oil. Im stumped!! OK so here is what is happening i come out in the morning start mt car arm to warm it up. As soon as i kick her in the guts she hits auto choke and idiles at 1500rpm and the tickking starts. The oil light is on mind u but after 3 seconds or so the ticking stops and the oil light goes off at exactly the same time...A mate of mine pointed out that it could be the pick up having crap loged in it has anyone had anything simillar to this? im starting to believe it may be an oil pump issue but then again im no wizz at this... mind you i have no loss in power no knocking at top end ... if anything ive noticed im running alote richer... any help and advice would be appreciated
