Since their answer regarding my issue has taken over a week, I feel that a heads up regarding reimax oil pump gear clearance is justified. Found some old threads with this issue, then some newer ones stating that it's fine, and went for the "cheap" solution. This is the fitment of the uprated oil pump (over 0.45mm, got a 0.05 feeler gauge blade stacked beneath) on a brand new crank. Let me know what your experience has been with Reimax or similar solutions! Now, I'm waiting for a spline drive kit.. Don't do the same mistake as I did, the expensive solution will just cost even more (I lost oil pressure which led to bearing failure, and the crank needed a lot of work to be ok again. Someone, at some time, fitted a narrow nose crank in my late -93 R32. The oil pump chewed some small pieces of the bearing so it too had to be replaced or repaired.)

Hey guy, i have done an oil change today, but noticed my oil filter has pushed away from the mounting stud, like it has had too much pressure for it to handle. Its a r32 GTR with a built bottom end and around 400kw at the tyres, it runs a JUN oil pump, I'm not sure of bearing clearances or oil restrictor size as the engine was assembled before i bought the car. Same goes with shimming the Jun pump, i don't know. What I do know is the engine is a bit over 8 bar at 1800rpm when its dead cold, about 3 bar when warm at idle and will have to check further to see what the max oil pressure is when revving to 8000rpm. I was using a DRIFT filter, they have a anti drain back valve and a magnet, i figured it would be a good thing, but thinking now it could be not as good as a ryco for strength as its what i have used on all of my previous cars. I understand the Rb oiling system quite well and know this is quite high pressure, but not unheard of. I'm just after some info from people in the know with aftermarket pumps running them at the full pressure and if this is something anyone else has experienced. I'm not keen on the oil filter blowing off and killing the motor that's for sure......... cheers

Tomei oil pump failures I tried searching but ran across the spline drive oil pump conversions and hadn't really heard bad press about the Tomei oil pump until then. I read about ONE failure so far and the thread did not provide Tomei's resolution to the pump issue so I'm curious if this is actually a potential problem or not. I have a Tomei pump and am curious if anyone has seen one broken and under what circumstances. I'm limiting my car to 8k, but I do bang the limiter quite frequently and was just thinking about going a bit higher soon. Some say the cause of failure is oil cavitation from temporarily starving the pump (which means a dry sump would be the only real cure), and some say it's simply the 2-flat-drive stock pump orientation that kills oil pumps. I'm looking for actual evidence if possible because I'd like to live the rest of my engine's life in a happy state of knowing the chances of oil pump failure are very slim. Patrick

Hi, Looking for an rb26 head complete but minus the hot side (no turbo's) needs the plenum, acv, iirc (what ever it is) rockers etc. I don't need (if it makes it any cheaper) cams, loom, coils, and injectors, cam cover or rocker valley cover. Can be parted, as i'm happy to assemble. also looking for an Tomei oversized oil pump for an rb. let me know whats about. Josh Sydney 0420971976

vic External Oil Pump Kit RB26/RB30
Birds posted a topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Bought this external oil pump kit to use in my 26/30 build, but my engine builder believes it will be overkill for my street driven application at the expense of my air conditioning, so I've decided to stick with an upgraded internal pump instead. This kit allows you to ditch the notorious internal oil pump setup and take those failure prone components out of the equation. For those who don't have a spare 10k to dump on dry sump, this is the next best thing to insure your expensive engine build or high revving race engine that will see more action than mine. Everything is in new/unused condition - I believe the previous owner had it test fitted to their engine before they decided to part out their project, so there are handling/tool marks on the parts, but they otherwise look great. My kit includes: - Ross Tuffbond Race Balancer (306510, rated to 1000hp), with 20% and 7% underdrive pulleys (protects your water and P/S pumps at high RPM), gilmer belt drive and belt guard washer - Moroso Single Stage External Pump w/ gilmer drive - Bracket for pump mounting (replaces your air con compressor) - Gilmer belt - Hoses/lines with AN fittings What you see is what you get. Only thing I don't have is bolts for the bracket. You'll also need to tap your sump to run a line to the pump. From my googling, the balancer is RB30 fitment - you MAY be able to use this on an RB26, but please do your own research - I'm unfamiliar with crank/ancillary similarities. Likewise, I believe the AC bracket is designed for an RB30 - I don't know if the AC mounts differ on RB26. How it will look setup (different parts but much the same deal) To buy a similar kit brand new, you're looking at around 3k from Ross Performance: https://rossperformanceparts.com/product/nissan-rb-wet-sump-kit-single-stage-2/ I'm looking for $1800ono - same cost as a Tomei internal pump. I may be willing to separate the pump/bracket/belt/hoses as I can still use the balancer in my build. Located western suburbs Melbourne. Happy to post at buyer's expense. -
RB25DET Crankshaft with extended oil collar I have a crankshaft out of a series 2 RB25DET (R33 GTST S2) for sale. Price is $500. The crank was machined by "The Crankshaft Specialist" last year, including crack testing, machining all journals, fitting an extended oil pump drive collar, and drilling & grub-screwing oil passage plugs to allow cleaning of passages. The crank was inspected & linished again late last year, after a turbo failure. Included are a set of main & big-end bearings that have done almost no work, and are sized to suit the machined journals. Machine work & collar would cost more than the asking price. Price is for crankshaft & bearings only - cradle shown in photo isn't included. We have gone RB25/30 so no further use for this.
