  2. Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone here has a remote starter on their vehicle as I'm having a little difficulty in trying to get mine to behave. I recently installed an alarm along with the XpressKit DB-ALL. On paper, it seemed the goods, just like the Clifford Avantguard G4 I once had in my Maxima - remote start, ability to take over with the engine still running and errand/pit-stop mode to allow the vehicle to run, remain armed and hop back in again to drive away. The problem with the XpressKit solution is that the remote start doesn't allow me to then take over. According to the manual, I should be able to just enter the vehicle with the OEM remote, close the door, press the brake pedal and then it hands control over to the OEM system before disabling the remote start on the alarm. What it also says in the manual, though, is "Get In and Go connections required" but the damn manual doesn't say what those connections are and whether or not they're in addition to the connections showing in the wiring diagram earlier in the manual. I've connected everything as per that wiring diagram but I can't help thinking that DEI have intentionally left out that one bit of detail to annoy people like me who have taken the DIY path rather than through one of their authorised dealers. Several emails to Directed's tech support in Canada have gone unanswered beyond their response to my initial pre-sales enquiry when I was ready to purchase the unit. Has anyone tried this brand of remote start bypass module before and if so, what are your experiences with it? All other functions seem normal and compatible with the exception of the door lock actuation via the BCM. It seems there may be a difference in the JDM Siemens VDO BCM as grounding the supposed unterminated lock/unlock pins on the BCM have no effect. I ended up having to make a relay board consisting of 3 relays allowing me to safely and harmoniously interface the alarm together with the BCM.
  3. Hi all as usual when someone starts a new topic they need something so... I had a battery place put a bigger battery in me 260RS today & installed larger terminals to fit as the stock battery in these cars is just way too small. well I asked the to bridge the car with a patch battery so I didn't loose all my head unit setting etc & of course they didn't. Now apart for reseting everything inn my car the JUPITER ESL-165 R remote start /entry system just beeps & beeps from under the dash, does anybody know how to re-arm the fob & system I read the Japanese instructions as best I could but I must be missing something as the procedure of unplugging the harness plugging it back in then turning the ignition to on then carry out the cut engine procedure twice then turn off the ignition din NOT work... ANY help would be greatly appreciated... REMOTE ESL-165R.pdf
  4. Remote Start in a manual Hey guys, NKOTB here and not a Skyline owner. Although that may change! What I am is a professional car audio and security fitter for the last 20years. I specialise in remote starts. I'm not here to promote my business at all Over the years, I often here that you can't fit a remote start to a manual transmission safely. I'm just here to point out that you can do it safely and many Nissan owners have it the best way. I primarily deal in Viper systems, the way Viper wants you to do a remote start in a manual is by using the handbrake wire and then forcing the operator to do a secure shut down procedure each and every time you get out of the car. Unlocking the car later without starting it and doing the procedure again will cancel the remote start activation. Massive PITA. Here's a trick I've found that works on most RWD/AWD/4x4 Nissans with a manual box. Most of them have a neutral switch, for Skylines it's for HICAS and also AC idle up control. By using the remote starts handbrake input wire on the output of the switch (drivers side of the gear box up front in front of the reverse switch) you can safely put the Viper into automatic transmission mode. When in neutral, the switch outputs a ground signal, when in gear it shows either open circuit or a small voltage from the eccs. This will prevent the remote start from attempting to crank in gear. FWIW I did this on an R32 GTR yesterday and found the wire in the drivers door sill harness it was Green/Orange. There was two (both leading to the HICAS) so make sure you verify it's operation. I have found non-HICAS cars without this switch but they have a blanking bolt instead which can be removed and have the switch installed. I didn't make this post to discuss the legality of remote start or anything else... purely for a bit of essential useless information for someone in the future. Since I'm not a Skyline owner, I won't be checking this post for long but when I do I'll happily answer questions. Ciao!
