  1. Hi All, I recently purchased a 2002 Nissan Skyline V35 250GT, and have used this forum for almost every query I've had with it, so before I post my questions (and sorry in advance if they have already been covered), I would like to thank all contributors of the VQ Series forums for their insight thus far. I'm looking at changing the spark plugs in my V35 250GT, but can't find any part numbers for iridium plugs. I've searched on the NGK website and the only option it provided was LFR5BP-11 (Platinum). If anyone has changed theirs with iridium before on the 250GT, please let me know which ones and if possible, an approximate price and/or recommended retailer...? I also wish to upgrade the air intake with a Stillen system or JWT/Stillen. If anyone has done this on the V35 before, please let me know what products you installed and through whom you purchased them - all I'm finding at the moment is retailers from the US and limited compatibility information. And finally, if anybody has any insight into reprogramming/translating the nav system, please let me know. I am aware Chris Rogers has moved to the US but was curious if anyone has "taken over". I am situated in Adelaide, South Australia. Any guidance with the above is much appreciated, Thanks
  2. Hi guys, I'm planning to replace the spark plugs soon, but not sure about the part number. I have read a number of posts but most of them are about v35s with different engine types. Mine is VQ30DD direct injection and it seems like the direct injection engines use different sparkplugs. Can anyone tell me the part number of the spark plugs that i need? Your help is highly appreciated.
  3. I purchased my Skyline in November and noticed that at High RPM, I'm getting some odd engine knocking. Since then, I stored it for winter and never reved past 4000 rpm. I plan on sending it off to paint now and I starting taking it apart and decided I'd look at my plugs just to see how they looked because the previous owner said they were due when I bought it. Upon first inspection, the plugs didn't seem too fouled and the gaps weren't abnormally large. I then decided to shop for new ones using the code that was on them to get the same ones or equivalent because I figure that whoever put them there did the research too. My mistake. I was running Bosch FR6DP1X Spark plugs which have all the correct specs except the height. There are 2 types: ISO and JIS. These were ISO which are a few mm shorter than the JIS spec. Uh oh. After realizing the plugs were wrong, I carefully observed the top of the plugs and noticed corrosion and some pitting. New spark plugs were required. So after more research, I decided that I was going to purchase the NGK 5691 which are also known as BCPR7EIX-11. Great! Since I have the coil packs off, I figure to myself that I will take the time to test them. So I take out my trusty multimeter, set it to Ohms and check the primary coils. The spec is from 0.6 - 0.9 ohms. They were all perfect. Yes! I then proceed to taking the rubber boots off to inspect the leads. Fudgesicle. Here's what I found: Long story short, Make sure you run JIS spec Spark plugs in your Skylines and Never trust that someone else did the research. I do have a question, Does anyone have pics of the internals of their OEM coil packs so I can compare? I've been speaking with Paul at Performance Wise and he showed me the internals of the Yellow Jacket Coil Packs that he sells. They don't seem to have a lead at the end of the spring (I dont have any leads on Coil 2 & 4, but the rest seem to). Thanks for the help. Cheers! DynamiX
  4. Hey guys, I'm new here just recently purchased a r33 series 2 1996 skyline. Anyway a few days ago I decided to clean the engine bay just at the car wash, after doing so I've experienced extreme losses in power and definite misfiring problems. When im driving it almost sounds like a machine gun and has no guts when I put my foot down. The turbo still spools up and it cranks over fine on start up, so im with the idea ive either got water in my coils or in my plugs and more so leaning towards coils cause if it was in the plugs the car wouldn't crank over??. I was having slight misfiring problems before I washed the engine bay but that was only when I dumped the throttle and was most likely cause the old owner had the boost set on 14PSI with a stock ECU. Car is reasonably stock; just the usuals... 4inch Pod filter, hiflow exhaust, turbo timer and boost controller I have a new set of iridium plugs on their way but what do you guys think, will changing the plugs sort the issue? or if water did manage to make its way into the coils will it eventually evaporate off or do I need to replace the coils?. Also I'm not hugely experienced with mechanics done the odd job or two. If I was to replace the coils and the plugs is it simple enough to follow a tutorial and do it myself or should I leave it to a mechanic?. Cheers guys and thanks for the answers in advance! also sorry if I sound bit stupid I'm just a newby to turbos haha

  6. Exhaust problem or not? I recently had high flow cats installed about 4 weeks ago. Two weeks after that I started to hear an odd sound that sounds like puffs of air through the exhaust. If I floor it at a low rev you can just constantly hear these puffs of air. It feels like there's almost a loss of power too. i took it back to the exhaust shop and they mentioned that two gaskets had a leak so they were replaced and also there's a loose nut in my muffler too. I have a JIC muffler but they recommended for me to get a new one. He said he had to re thread the bit and tighten it. since then the issue went away but it's Coke back again and it's pissing me off haha. Can even hear the puffs of air while I'm idle. Also usually first thing in the morning you don't notice it until about 10 minutes of driving. Could it possibly be a spark plug issue?
  7. R33 Gtr not getting fuel Hi guys, i ama new gtr owner. Imported the car frm japan about 2 yrs ago and and the car in the garage. I am finally getting it ready to get a compliance and i ran into a problem. Up untilnow the car had been starting up fine and its safe to say that the car has only been driven about 1km in these two years but i used to regularly start it up. Yesterday i went to start up the car, at first it turned on for about 4 seconds and then turned off. The car is turning over and getting a proper self but is not starting. So i checked the spark plugs and they are fine, next i checked the fuel filter and that fine too. Ihave also checked all the fuses and they are fine. Took the filter off to see if fuel was flowing when i turn the key and there was the problem. There is no fuel coming through. Then i took out the fuel pump, checked it with a car battery and it works fine. But when i put the key in i cant hear the pump prime. I think i have checked the correct relay with a multimeter and that is working aswell. It was next to the battery, have added the photo of the relay. Can you guys tell me what could it be? Any help is appereciated guys.
  8. wanting to change my spark plugs on my 32, wondering what would be the best option, its got minor mods running 12psi
  9. Intermittent running problems Hi everyone, should probably start this off with a bit of background info. this is my back and fourth to work car, i do have a lead foot sometimes, but I don't need it for the power. my r33 non turbo automatic with the RB25DE has been running rough intermittently when it first started I thought it might have been a fuel issue, so changed the fuel filter, oil, oil filter and blew out the air filter i pulled the coil packs out and they were starting to show small problems Problem continued , had to wait a few days to fix that but finally got round to it, cleaned the carby and mass flow, the spark plugs i had thought should be still good since the last service not many k's before but a fair amount of time it drove smooth the next day, then started to drive rough 30mins in the day after. i pulled it apart again deciding to change the plugs, chucked carby cleaner drove the next day calmly, day later ran rough 35mins into drive decided the coolant temperature sensor needed to be replaced drove to and from work smoothly then jumped in to run down the road and it didn't just wait to be 10 or 15 mins into the drive, it ran rough all the way
  10. Misfire issue Hi guys wondering if anyone can lead me in the right direction. Car is misfiring once hits 10psi, whether it be in low or high boost it misfires from this point. It is a r33 with built rb25det running 310rkw on high boost. Car runs up to 25psi. Changed plugs like for like BCPR7ES and continued with the 0.80mm gap. The split Fire coilpacks were quite hard to get off but now they seem to go on super easy and off quite easily too once 2 bolts removed of course. Any ideas as I am stumped? Cheers
  11. ok so ive done a little digging and found these two part numbers, Denso Iridium IHK22 NKG LFR6AIX-11 but i also found HKS plugs (M35IL) and NKG recomend LFR6AP-09 so i have two questions, which plug is best for the M35 ( highflowed if it matters) and best place to get them, as 180 for plugs sounds steep.
