  1. Hi members Happy New Year My skyline has no power. It's a straight line 6 cylinders non turbo engine. The first 5 cylinders have low compression. The fifth one is just 10 psi. The sixth one is ok. No slippage of the timing belt. I have removed all necessary bolts to remove the head except 3 allen type bolts on the engine head. The allen bolt heads seem rusted as these bolts are out of the rocker area in between the two cams and not exposed to the engine oil. They are very stubborn and one of them got stripped out. I request the members to guide me to undo the bolts. Will using the extractor method work? If no, can I weld a nut to the bolt to ease the job? Please answer.
  2. Hi experts, My timing belt on my 34 GTT slipped mid-freeway driving due to a coolant leak somewhere, and I've bent the valves. My mechanic is still in the process of assessing damage and cost i.e repairable, machining etc but I'm probably up for 1.5 to 3k total. There was mention of valve repair depending on hydraulic or mechanic which was the real dollar figure affecting factor. What advice I'm after is, is it worth spending the money to have the motor repaired that's clocked 212,000k (and obviously plugging the leak) or investing the money in another motor, and if so, another DETNEO if they are easy to find or something else? The car is a daily, I was working towards saving for a little daily shitbox, then this happened. Whats likely the best course of action here? Serious answers would be appreciated, in a bit of a serious situation. I'm no expert, I have a general understanding of my car, which is why I seek the advice of experts such as yourselves. Hey experts, In desperate need of someone who 'knows a guy' or can put me onto a reputable establishment that can procure a full set of 24 valves for a RB25DETNEO, which are proving to be the hardest part to acquire in the country. Long story short, my GTT slipped the timing belt due to a coolant leak from the head way back in April and bent all 24 valves. It's been with my mechanic, Head Street Auto in Traralgon ever since then. The head re-build was outsourced to Hoppers Heads in Victoria and the outsourcing of the valves required is being barely managed by Hi-Octane in Sydney. This mob in Sydney keep dicking around my mechanic here in Traralgon regarding valve availability and ETA's - I was last told after I called this mob direct that the valves were being shipped from Japan and would land Monday 2 weeks ago - today I've been told they've only received x amount of one size and y amount of the other (correct me if I'm wrong but there's 12 valves of one size and 12 of another for the NEO? Not all 24 are the same). What I'm hoping from this post is someone knows a good business or even just a guy who can just say yep, what do you need, 24 valves, order placed they'll be here in 2 weeks - done. I've been without this car going on 3 months now whilst my mechanic, the head shop and the parts supplier all go around in circles trying to source valves for a RB25DETNEO. My mechanic is weary about sourcing the parts privately from a private sale in case they go through all the rigmarole only to find they aren't serviceable or are dodgy or something. Any assistance would be appreciated, dont even remember what my 34 looks like anymore!

  6. Hi I just bought a r34 non turbo and it has a loud rattling noise after 2000 revs and a miss fire on cylinder 6 so she is ticking over a bit rough. Anyone got any idea what could be wrong with it have looked around the forums a bit but haven't really found an answer. I was thinking it was a lifter that was stuck but from what I read they are solid lifters so I see that the Neo engines have vtc solen ides on the intake valves could it have something to do with this and how would I check etc any help would be great full or is there shims on the lifters that might have been thrown off the lifter just find it rather strange that there is no noise when ticking over just the rough idle hope fully 1 of ye can help me cheers

  8. rb26 inlet valve stem discolouration/damage? Hi All, I've just removed my inlet manifold to have it painted and noticed that the two inlet valves in cyl 3 have some discolouration on the valve stems immediately below the valve guides. Is this normal, or should I be looking at replacing valves, guides, and seals? This is an R33 GTR motor that is stock (except for cams and a little extra boost) and in otherwise good order and showing nothing as wrong in its performance or behaviour. I've yet to turn the motor over and inspect the rest of the valves when they are extended. Motor is at TDC on cyl1, so these are the only inlet valves extended.   10. RB26 Head questions Hey guys, I have tried to do some research and I can not seem to find the right threads to answer my questions. I'm currently doing a rebuild on my RB26 head and have a few questions. My current parts list I have is Brian Crower single spring & titanium retainers, Supertech valve guides, Brian Crower +1MM Intake & +1MM Exhaust valves, Kelford 280 10.5mm lift cams And what I can not find is if it's acceptable to reuse the OEM Valve Keepers/Locks and what the OEM Camshaft Studs are rated to. Are these MUST have things when doing the head?
  11. After a full set of RB25det Neo Intake valves. Must be from a neo and must be in perfect condition with no damage. Preference to those with evidence of condition of engine removed from. Pm me.
  12. R32 GTR Drag Cylinder Head Hi all, New to the forums after a little advice regarding my rb26 head build. Im currently building a r32 drag car and im looking at building a head that will support 1300awhp+ , before anyone asks the rest of the engine and driveline will be capable of the power im chasing i just want to do the head right the first time around I will be starting with a new core. Im thinking about going sum custom cams but unsure who does the best for this sort of an application. What i would like to know is who in australia does the best porting jobs on the rb26 with proven results. Also suggestions on the valve train im looking at ferrea 1mm oversized valves but not sure on what are better in the way of spring and retainer kits. Are ferrea, tomei, and supertech all pretty similar in quality and performance? Are tomei solid lifters and bronze valve guides going to be up there with the best or is there better available? Also ive heard of +2mm oversized exhaust valves being an option but unsure of who makes them.... Any advice or help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
