Prompted by a new post regarding head torque on a RB20, I decided to test out the Search functions on the forums.

In the "Search by Keywords" box, I typed in: torque +"cylinder head" (as per the advice in the "Advanced Usage" sidebar), from 180 days and newer

then searched.

Among the threads returned, I ended up with:

"Porting RB26 Cylinder Head", by Mik, from Oct 13, 2005.

Now, be buggered if I can find both terms anywhere in that thread.

So, is the search engine so bloody finnicky, or am I just too stupid to understand how to make it work properly (if so, how should I have constructed the query?)

yeh the search function on this forum software is severely lacking...

try:

+torque +"cylinder head"

every term you want in the search must have a + so it reads as:

find all threads that contain torque AND the term "cylinder head"

if you leave out the first plus you get

find all threads that contain torque OR the term "cylinder head"

Or you can try torque on its own

Might bring up a lot of threads, but you can skim over the pages it will return pretty quickly by thread titles.

Might take 5mins longer, but thats how i do it.

I make it an general as i can within the topic im looking for.

Cant say ive had a problem yet

I can now see why ypeople can't get anything out of <search>.

Just tried to retrieve a For Sale I put up last week. Entered my user_name in the <Filter by member name>, and specified "Last 30 days" <or newer>. Search Classifieds + all sub-forums. My thread was not among the single thread returned.

I knew that the title was "Garage Sale", so I tried both "garage" and "+garage" in the <Search by keywords> field (all the other fields as above).

On both occasions, all I got was:

"Unfortunately your search didn't return any results."

I have been posting and some are 5 miutes ahead and/or 5 minutes before others.

ie

person time of post = 12:10

my post after = 12:05

The is a glitch in the Matrix

search dont work properly for me most of the time either

today i tried to do a search for *mines* about my gtr ecu but cME back with couldnt find anything

then after a few comments in new post a made about it a mod must have done a search and found stuff and linked it into my thread then locked the thread which i dont think is justified when the search engine is full of bugs not working properly.

link to my thread

gtr mines ecu

all searches came back negative

I locked your thread :)

I searched using "mines"

I can 100% say its definately working, sometimes the search button is a little funny, but i just tried it again and i came up with the same results for "mines"

However, i bet you forgot the following crucial search option, and thats why it is not working for you.

You must change the Search posts from... box if you wish to search back further

The default is 30 Days...

You must change this depending on how far back you wanna go. I used 365 days

Cheers

    • So, good news and bad news Bad news first: The intake plenum is lost in the mail apparently, I haven't paid for it yet, and MX5 Mania are still chasing it up, farking 'Merica postal service  Good news: Any retune will be free if and when it turns up,  I'm still keen for them to throw it on The car goes noticeably better, with only the typical initial take off thingie from a choppy cam and manual transmission, but giving it just a little more RPM than before gives it a smooth take off (and hour or so of peak hour traffic sorted that little skill out) Car made around 145kwatw & 225Nm (Intake may get me to 150kw, maybe....馃ぃ) Weirdly, 145kwatw is the same max power that my standard 2015 WRX STI made a few years ago The cam really comes alive from around 3.5k and keeps making power and holds it flatish all the way to 7k, whereas before torque would drop hard around at 4.5k Drive home was sadly in peak hour, although I did get a little clean air here and there to wind out 1st and 2nd a little bit, and whilst the gains aren't anything for the "boosted boys" to be impressed at, the thing is a blast to drive The sound in the vid is poor, as it is in a undercover yard at work, but, outside, in the wild, it sounds awesomeballs to my ears with all the choppyness I consider it money very well spent for the outcome  Cam specs for reference (Basically the biggest you can fit with stock pistons) 20250417_171807.mp4   LOL, I don't think I will ever grow up

    • R33 with RB26 seems to go off of learned voltage for idle. Seemed like whatever the baseline voltage was once ECU first gains power will be the idle voltage. With ignition on unplug/replugging the TPS would relearn the idle TPS voltage.
