Fyi Timing Belt And Rockercover Prices

do Nissan happen to sell timing belt kits as well? You wouldn't happen to know how much they were?

If by a kit you mean the timing belt+bearings, then no they don't. They'll get them in for you as a bunch of parts - but that's not what I'd call a 'kit'. AFAIC, buy the belt from Nissan, but get the bearings from a bearing specialist as that will be much cheaper than Nissan for exactly the same parts. Around $90 will be the retail price for the genuine belt and I paid just over $100 for the bearings from a local specialist.

So its $90 for belt, $100 for bearings + labor (which would cost normally how much?) and that’s all that’s required when changing a timing belt?

well make sure they change the bearings and the stud aswell....while your at it do the cam seals and the crank seal......oh and might as well do the water pump and the fan belts aswell.......then of course the price goes up....thats why the price varies a lot doing this sort of job....some of us prefer to do the whole lot as opposed to doing half of it.....i mean theres nothing like doing it then having something you already had off fail because you shouldve replaced it

thanks steve L.

Dezz, I wouldn't think it would be too much more, as I'm quite sure in the case of the RB20/25's you have to remove the waterpump/alternator, powersteering and airconditiong belts before taking off the cam and crack covers anyway. All they have to do is put new belts on when they are reassembling instead of the old ones, if you buy dayco belts I would say that the three together shouldn't cost much more than $70 give or take...

FYI im getting my timing belt changed at UPI while my car is getting compliance...$300 supplied and fitted. when ive head prices of $450+ !

they are probably doing water pump too, which is highly advisable

I'd be a tad more than $70 worth of labour
