a friend of mine lives in SA and has been defected for the lowering of her car.

can anyone tell me the laws because people in her area dont seem to know a damn thing about them.

where is the officer meant to be measuring the ride height from?

are there ways to get out of it?

are there any workshops near lincoln (i think thats where shes from) that can do a decent job on performance cars?

The one occasion I have had a car defected, too low was one of the things listed.

The officer involved provided me with the legal measurements for my car when he issued the notice.

Cars have "eyebrow height" requirements as well as ground clearance requirements. Transport SA would be the people to contact for the measurements for the type of car.

Eyebrow height is the distance from the centre of the wheel to the guard.

get here to call regency park and ask what the _exact_ eyebrow height is for her model of car - they are all different.

Then it's just a matter of getting some new springs most likely - why does a n 89 prelude need a performance shop if you don't mind me asking? If it's something special and has a lot of modified bits and pieces, then that will cause a lot of problems as well :\

mechanics in her area arent familiar with her car so thats why she needs someone who knows what theyre doing.

ill tell her about that regency park thing.

I think I remember reading somewhere in the RTA reports that you can drop 2" on standard ride height, that might be the go. The problem is, as soon as you put big wheels on a car, it looks like a truck on stock springs. So you either have to use smaller wheels, have it looking like an off-roader, or have it defectably low. ;)

did she get defected at glenelg on the weekend?

yeah i saw that defect station drove straight through it :)

guy in a blue vl in front of me wasnt so lucky he had internationals lowered(dumped

actually) and rb## turbs. as i was going around the corner a cop was lifting his bonnet,

hope had had an engineers report otherwise DAMN!!!

trust the cops to ruin everyones day and such a nice day too! :O

Hey guys I got defected recently for my car being too low 33cm from the ground at the front and 32cm fromthe bottom.... and to add insult to injury it was on my driveway.... anyways long story short to avoid getting defected for being too low the front and rears need to be 360mm from the ground to the centre of the wheel...hope this helps as regency is a pain in the ar$# to get through.

changing rim and trye size has no impact on the hight from the center of the Hub to the top of ur wheel arch

for a R33 GTS-T

front 330mm (might be maximum)

rear 330mm (might be maximum)

did ur friend keep her orriginal springs and shocks or did she get her springs cut ...

if she got them cut she could go to Pt Augusta and find a pedders and get them to fit sum sports ridders with heavy duty shock and springs

    • Try fabricating something like this and install it under the pedals? Not sure if it's legal or not....
    • Even though I have some pretty good (brand) ratchet ringies, I avoid using them to break open tight bolts. A broken ratchet is very annoying.
