Petrol 98 Is It All The Same?

hi guys i know there has been alot of discussion about 100 per cent and 98 per cent octane but this is only about 98.

So i was wondering is Synergy 8000 and BP Ultimate etc etc all the same, i relise they are from diiferent companies but would they all use the same "ingredients"? I ask this because i find that when i run Bp Ulitmate it seems to leave dirty black stains on my rear bar but when i use synergy it dosent seem as bad. i have been trialing this for about 2 months now and driving patterns have been similar but im not sure what it is.

Maybe im just being paranoyed???

I am possibly the only person on this forums that can't feel/see any difference in using the different 98s.

I regularly switch between Vortex98, Optimax and Ultimate and have not felt any difference between the 3.

I have not used Mobil because the one time I wanted to, I didn't know which one was the 98RON one...

My own 32 has always pumped out a fair bit of carbon, regardless of fuel (all 98, which it was tuned for) but I used to use Optimax and now use BP Ultimate because it seems to run a bit better on that. As for the octane rating the number isn't a 'percentage' but a homogenous rating regulated by the government using an average of the MON and RON numbers obtained on a Fuel Knock Test engine in a lab. Think about it, Avgas is like 112 RON or so. Its all v.complex. Would like to know if anyone has run a car on 98 and re-tuned it to suit the new 100 octane OptimaxExtreme and seen the difference in power/economy/smoothness though.

I honest couldn't tell the difference btween vorte98 and ultimate, so I stuck to vortex98. Can definitely feel the difference btween 96 and 98 in my old NA R33......
