Since Motoconcepts are pretty much finished with car events, I guess we'll have to organise our own.

What I propose is that everyone goes and gets their CAMS C3 licence through an accredited CAMS licencer such as Peter Finlays, Ian Luff or anyone else who is able to carry out the C3 Observed Licence Test (OLT)...

After you have recieved your CAMS licence, you are able to rock up and participate at any of the private practice days at Oran Park, Wakefield or Eastern Creek for a reduced cost!! Private Practice days at Eastern Creek are only $70 for ARDC members and $105 for non-members... Much cheaper than Motoconcepts if you're an ARDC member!

Wakefield Park Events Calendar - http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au/site/event...events_calendar

Oran Park - http://www.oranpark.com/

N.B. You *NEED* your CAMS C3 or better licence to participate at these "Private Practice" days.

Hi Guys, we as a club certainly need to get some track days together.

Another idea is to run club level events, eg Honda club hire Wakefield twice a year for open practice. We just need to check the requirements and numbers to make our money back.

Another cheaper option than C3 license is C2/club level licenses. With these we can take part in supersprints (timed track laps) and hillclimbs.

Open practice can be good, I've done a few, but you are mixed in with whatever is running that day, eg last time I was out I was mixing it with sport sedans.....

The wakefield open practice days don't require license at all.....

Has anyone been a member of another club that has had track days?

If the NSW Club (paid members) can organise a day(s) where those who are interested (like ME) - can get the C3 licence, then I would be in that. How much fun would it be to do this with a bunch of other Lines ??

Maybe we could get a group discount or something along the way.

There's no way I am going sit on my arse and not go and enjoy all the mods I've done to my car. So I say let's do it.....

Finlay or Luff - which one is better ???

I've done the racing course with both, and Finlay was far superior. Luff were way too easy on everyone, sort of "yeah that was good, here's your license". Finlay provided much better feedback on what your actually doing wrong. If you want no bullshit, and more constructive criticism, take them.

I think Paul may have been speaking to them about running open track days too, perhaps we need to follow this up now

We are having trouble finding a third driver for an enduro, thought it would be good to know who holds which license

Guys...

Aaron MCgill is having a Cams license day out at eastern creek on Feb 28th.

Aaron is fantasic, I have enjoyed the training I have done with him much more than the other training companies that operate. (One of them just spends the whole day yelling in your ear.. )

Yes, you can take the "Observed License Test" OLT on its own with CAMS.....but the ppl who do are "apparently" much harder than if you pay up for a two day course :D You would also need to attend the flags lecture as well.

I would strongly suggest doing a course though, you'd have to be a pretty gifted driver if you didn't learn something on a course

G'day Duncan, how's it going?

I've done a few open track days at Wakefield with the $20 Wakefield license, but this year I'm getting a CAMS L2S license ($91 and no test necessary). I can then do open practice days with at any Australian track and compete in supersprints and hillclimbs. I just thought this might be an option for people who can't afford the C3 license.

Every open track day I've ever done separated the street cars from the race cars, so it wasn't too daunting. Watch out for morons in HSVs, though. One of them tried to push me off the main straight at Wakefield once-a bit scary! I don't think they like being overtaken by cars with less cylinders.

Cheers,

Ben

In that case I'd still prefer to do a course and take the test with CAMS direct. Flag lecture? Interesting.

The CAMS L2S licence is the one you will be able to get through the club when we get CAMS affiliation. This is why we are going through the hassle and paying the CAMS fee.

Then you will be able to attend other Clubs' events and compete.

Gonad Man are you sure it entitles you to attend Open practise Days?

    • I'm not up to date on the latest, but for basic modifications like pod filter, lower springs etc you can get a modification permit at the time of inspection.  For more serious modifications you will need engineering.  Intercoolers used to fall into the mod permit rule but its been a long while since i looked it up.   Either way you will be able to get it registered, just a case of $300 vs $3k .
    • Hi everyone! I’m the new owner of a 1996 R33 GTS-T, I’ve purchased this car over from Queensland and brought it to Western Australia and I’ve found that there is a hole cut out in the engine bay for the FMIC that enters into the wheel well (fender liners are in the boot). For anyone that has had to get their car over the PITS here, will this be a major issue?
    • Yeah I've spotted this one too, whenever it's lotto superdraw week and I'm browsing car sales dot com for my new ride They must be dreaming, maybe it's worth 150k for the link to Brock?
    • 100% accurate!  We are a pack of know it alls....  But, I bet people go to you when they have a problem! I've been on a bit of a clean up rampage too over the past month!  I've thrown more shit in the bin over the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 3 years combined! Anyway, it's all good fun being different! My wife sometimes does not agree!
    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
