Hi all,

As some of you may know, my uncle owns a camera shop in Sydney and is able to get a lot of goods at supplier/cost price. I have recently purchased a Manfrotto 241v camera mount from them and thought a few others here may be interested.

Basically, the photo above speaks for itself. You'll be able to mount this both inside and outside your of your 'line and either snap/film while you are driving (filming is the goal in my case). Personally, my chosen mounting position/s will be from the windscreen and driver/passenger door. The position shown in the photo is probably not recommended on your Skyline (even with the support leg in place)

Being Manfrotto, quality is assured... the entire unit is made in Italy using really good materials~ Suction is strong enough to lift an office desk complete with PC and Folders

Delivery/Pickup

Local Pickup is available Mon-Sat from my uncle's shop... buyers will be issued with an official document to prove your purhase so you don't look like an idiot when you walk in there

Delivery interstate can be organized as well, not sure of the pricing for normal registered/express (estimating around $20-$25)

Sorry mate, only just got it during my lunch break today... first test run will be tonight on the cruise

I've asked around and there are guys who mount these on during their runs around Wakefield - it seems to be dead steady.

The most "unstable" bit of the unit is the mounting head I would have thought, but they have designed it in 3 pieces with clamps and spring screws - the thing is solid as a rock!

If you want more stability, buy a hotshoe bracket, and another suction cup and pole, so it's fixed from the top and bottom.

This is probaly better for DV cameras (obviously), they are lighter, and there isn't much point in having a still camera in the car for trackdays.

Satanic, when you're testing, just use something with an equivalent weight, and drive your car pretty hard, straight line, braking and around corners.

The weight of the camera will surely surpass 3kg with the added g-forces, and you wouldn't want metal poles and a huge chunk of plastic floating around in your car on a track day.

OK people, testing has been done from Friday night Great news is that it works perfectly for my Sony Mini DV camcorder. As darK has said, this is way more suited for small camcorders (mini DV) as it is obviously smaller and more light weight!

Only problems so far (more like bitches)

1) The mounting head is not a quick release

2) The angle from the mount needs to be finely adjusted BEFORE you drive/film.

* Quick release would be good so you can take the camera out without having to unscrew everything

Not bad indeed. I would prefer one to actually be attached to the floor in the back and to be attached to the roof or to sit on the rear parcel shelf.

Let us know the quality of the shots, I am really intrigued into this.

OK here's an update...

Been trying to test this thing in full over the weekend but the weather has been completely screwed up!!! All the footage is clear for like 15minutes, then comes up all blocked by rain/fog

I've discovered how you make the head a "quick" release... you put the support stand in before the mounting head Still a bit tricky but saves the 15minutes required to set everything up again.

Putting it simply, cost price is $165.00 incl. GST - obviously my uncle is not going to do that for everyone so I guess the lowest people can get them for is $175.00 (small charge for processing, ordering etc.)

If people want them, just let me know... I'll organize a pay-per-unit thing if you want them, it'll be $175.00 (pickup)

I'd like to see the footage and also a few snaps of how you have got everything setup. EG the suction cap on the window and then is the second support rod just resting on the floor or is it bolted etc.

i am assuming it would clip on if possible????

Below are some of the stills from the video I took on Friday night, as stated, weather was crap all weekend so much of it came out rather poorly.

About the angles though, you can pretty much get any type of angle depending on where you mount this thing. I put it in the top left corner of the windscreen to get this angle - it was just the most convenient place for me that night.

Shipping is pretty much n/a as l'm already ordering over 5K worth of equipment, yes its probably more advantageous to still go through B&H.

Though, do we (or can we) get a full tax invoice if we buy from this g/b?? As l'm a 'tog full time its just another tax write off for me.
