Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could recommend a suspension shop. I am looking at getting some more poly bushes and I would like to get a decent 4 wheel alignment. Does Whiteline have an approved dealer in SA?

Any body have had good experiences? If you have had bad ones, and would like to drop me a PM I would be glad to receive them also.

Thanks heaps

Steve

Whiteline have re-sellers everywhere. Call Bob or Jim and ask 'em ! Their kits are very good -perfectly tuned for Australian (ie bad) roads. I have dealt with Whiteline on many occasions, they are professional & courteous, and I'm not what you'd call the ideal customer !! a lot of R&D goes into their product.

any reputable suspension shop can fit the parts you require.

Buy with confidence.

Hey Big Datto, you dont have to sell me on whiteline - I am already using some of their gear, ie swaybars, pineapple rings and castor bushes - just need to find a good suspension shop as I have found that there is a difference between a good and bad suspension store.

Cheers

Steve

Hey Steve,

I hate to do this but I don't recommend Steve at Manta Racing. He does not have the full set-up in terms of alignment (none in fact) and is often too busy to attend to suspension work to the standard I expect in my opinion. Very very expensive labour costs as well.

I have gone through about 6 different suspension places in Adelaide and only two have been thorough enough for me. First would be Bridgestone in Gouger Street, speak to Laurie and second City Discount Tyres in Tee Tree Plaza Area.

If you want suspension parts put in then order direct through Whiteline and get either of the two above shops to fit.

I'll 2nd Freebaggin's choice of Laurie at Bridgestone, Gouger Street. Laurie & his lads are enthusiastic, thorough & have a solid background in both drag & circuit racing. His prices are very good too.

Freebaggin fair enough we all have our opinions. I got charged $75 for a four wheel alignment, which i reckon is pretty decent.

I personally would take my car to someone who has been involved with the racing industry for a long time and has alot of knowledge setting up suspensions. I dont really trust these bigger organisations( mainly the younger employees) with my car.

I'm not baggin the places you mentioned as I have never dealt with them before and obviously you've had good experiences with them and maybe worth trying in the future. For the time being steves been good to me and the the prices not to bad. I must admit I dont know much about suspension needs, but he came highly recommended to me and i really did not want to take it to the local Bob Jane t mart .

Freegbaggin, Whatsisname and Pero's33, Thanks for all the replies, its good to hear different opinions and be able to have a choice - that way I can sus them out and make up my own mind, no one else to blame that way...hehehe

Its all good and it all helps - the more opinions the better

cheers heaps

Steve

Bit of a generalisation dude :)

I NEVER let anyone touch my car unless I'm there involved in, or watching, the work progressing on my car. Suspension set-up & alignment included. It can be very disturbing to see just how substandard work "could've" been carried out @ some places I've been! Big franchise chains or little backyard places alike.

I've had quite a few suspension changes & alignments on my cars over the yrs. From these experiences I'd say some workshops will give you a McDonalds - "Mc alignment" whereas others will align exactly how you want/need it (drag, circuit, all round etc) taking very good care in the process. Laurie @ Bridgestone in Gouger St falls into the later category.

Southern Steering & Suspension in Noarlunga are another I'd recommend. These guys are both a Whiteline dealer & Bridgestone centre.

I’ve not had any involvement with Steve Cramp & Manta Racing but I have heard positive reports.

For Whiteline products at decent prices try –

if anyone wants any whiteline parts i am able to get them for a good price, a lot less than you would probably pay at most places.

If you also want some adjustable caster rods i make them now for a lot less tan you can get them for elsewhere.

Caster rods will be $250, I will be making up a few sets soon so let me know if your interested. I make them with 19mm rod ends instead of 14mm ones that many use giving better strength and they last longer. Can email pics if you like.

That sounds like a real bargain, I think JMS sell these for $395.

On the suspension thing, I'm gonna sound pretty bone hear, but what exactly is caster, camber, toe and any other relevant wheel alignment thing. I really no 2/5s or stuff all when it comes to suspension, which is a bit poor as it can make such a difference to a cars performance.

Cheers
