Hi all,

The coating on my wheels has been bubbling and flaking off in places since I've had the car.

It's kinda annoying me so I was wondering if anyone has advice:

1. Ignore and don't worry

2. Get them sand-blasted and powder-coated

3. Other options? Wheel repair/reconditioning places???

Option 2 is probably sensible but - wank factor aside - I'd like to retain the Nismo logos if I can...

If anyone knows of somewhere reliable in Brisbane to get this done, the advice would be appreciated, thanks! Pics attached.

I am relying on a 5 year memory but Chris Neil from Wheel Revolution.

Unit 2/18 Randall St Slacks Creek.

He's the man to see.

I second Chris as well. Yes he' still there and I've used him before. He's even got a write up in the current issue of HPI, go have a read. Depending on the damage repair work starts at around $40 per rim. He has the ability to bring your wheels up to brand new condition...if I had Nismo's I'd definately spend the $$.

Hey jamac go with a wheel shop or panel beater, don't get the wheels powder coated just have them painted in enamel (sp?).

They will not build up the dust as quick & r a lot easyer to clean when in enamel...

enamel your joking rite ?? I wouldn't paint my dog kennel in it, thats if I had a dog kennel. 2pak or powder coat only

the guy at street art wheels up here at kunda park has been toying with a chrome finish for wheels for a few years now, not sure how he does it but he also does scratch and repair of mag wheels and repaints them in any colour u like. its called

The HPI article only touched on rim repairing but overall they provide wheel restoration as well which includes painting. I had a set of Volks that had stone chips and gutter rash and all they did was restored it and repainted it in its original color...came out brand spanking new!

lmao go right ahead & spray your wheel in 2pac lmao if u got the $$$$ & powder coat tends to make the brake dust build up of the wheels more done it my self so know about it enamel is easy to fix if u get chips & is not to costly it depends on u if your going to use the wheels on a show car & have the money to get em done in 2pac go for it or if money is a problem go for the powder coat or enamel ....

ever heard of a fullstop dude lmao!

For machining, buckles, gutter rash etc: Dean at Depulu in Ashmore

For refinishing, painting and polishing: Dean at Mag Wheel Services in Southport.

I have personally used both these guys on more than one occasion and they are great at what they do. I absolutely swear by these guys!

I also take my wheels to Depulu for balancing, although they don't really do this as a service, they're the only place that seem to be able to get it right and are usually happy to do a balance only job. Also its noteworthy that these guys never use rattle guns.

2pak is not that much different from enamels price range because enamel is on its way out and going up in price. There lots of cheap 2pak out there thats better then enamel

    • I would not be surprised if you are the only person on earth that has the interest/desire to do that lol.  The Haltech base map is a really good starting point, the car will fire easily and drive very well, even on mild boost levels. To me, following your advice sounds like some sort of ancient Chinese water torcher lol (this is not an insult Josh, never change <3)
    • Those car show concepts from the 2000's and 2010's like the Floria and IDx were brilliant and should've gone ahead, at least one of them. But neither Honda nor Nissan are thinking about affordable performance any more, which is truly sad.  Even if Toyota's liquid hydrogen ICE development reaches the point where it's commercially viable and the infrastructure to support it, Honda/Nissan would have to wait until Toyota allow fee access to their patents to offer it with any smaller performance models they released to take advantage of it.
    • A sporty manual RWD coupe with a IL4 Honda engine would only be a good thing I assume we won't see anything released for a few years though, unless informal talks and designs have been going on for a few years,  and due to the current, and future, emmisions and safety requirements, I assume anything "sporty" they would do would be at least some hybrid thingie And hopefully anything they are thinking of has nice lines, without lots of plastic and fake bits hanging off it like that horrendous FK8 that looked like it was designed by a 13 year old The other issue of course in the current market is cost, currently the type R is around $70k, a twin is around $50k Meh, I'm old and grumpy and would rather buy a older model car and waste my coin on that than buying anything currently available new
