Greetings everyone,

I got my R32 GTS-T about a year ago and to be honest haven't achieved much due to time restraints. :D I have alot of the components together to make the mild upgrades such as pod, cold air induction,R33 GTR cooler, exhaust and made up jaycar DFA,TBC and controller but still finding time hard to come by at present. Enough of my sobe story and to the point. I was hoping there was some one in or around brisbane with similar mods that wouldn't mind meeting up at some point to take me for a spin and show me what the potential is?

The reason i ask is, i'm a freshly qualified mechanic so i can perform the mods myself but will take some time when on the flip side, I have a good friend in a perfomance shop that has told me for the amount of effort, time and money involved i'd be better off with an S15 and applying these breathing and cooling mods to achieve a much more lieghtal car.

So what do you guys think? and is anyone willing to show me there car? can be out cruising or what ever!

CHEERS in advance :D

Cheers for the opinions guys

R33S2- I was Planing to sidle up to a few people at the next cruise but for obvious reasons would be reluctant to take me for a spin which would detract from their cuise. Can't blame em, I wouldn't on an organised cruise either. It sounds good also to just get the mods done and reep the rewards but i'm spread very thinly time wise along with a currently interstate relationship (i'm sure a few of you would know what thats like). For me half the fun of it is the build and i'm learning to do the fabrication etc. etc myself. I don't mind it taking time but i'd like to experience what i'm working towards. All that said, point taken

Mud- Thanks for the heads up on people to contact. Thats exactly what i need. Actually tried pred a couple of days ago without result, so i hope the PM went through ok

BASICALLY ALL I'M AFTER IS A ONE TIME SEAT OF MY PANTS EXPERIENCE OF THE BASIC MODS I'M SURE MOST HAVE ACHIEVED. SOIF ANYONE IS WILLING, PLEASE DON'T HESTATE TO REPLY! CHEERS

Read preds site as well as much info off the forum. GREAT FORUM BY THE BY! And NISMO-BOY, your car sounds like an impressive weapon but within my budget i would allow for a greatly depreciating car since i perchased it i can't justify the money or time so i'm only after a reasonable streeter with maybe a turbo upgrade when the standard dies.

BIG CHEERS FOR THE POSTS THOUGH GUYS!

Sweet mate, You sir are a bloody legend and not blowing wind up your arse but your domokun pics are hilarious!

I'm a west side boy around indrooroopilly area so when is good for you?

I want to wait til after the dyno tune on the 21st. At the moment I am ashamed of the idle. But good news is you'll be able to feel it at 250+rwkw instead of 230rwkw.

Remind me again after the 21st and we'll go for a spin.

Most appreciated 3LIT3 32. I'll PM you closer to the date!

Did you also know that their is a nissan cruise to hinze dam on the 29th so it'd be great to see you out to kill some of the boost cruisers! all the details are in QLD events if interested

Still very interested if anyone else is willing as my expected power will be around the 150 to 160rwKw range which is well under 3LIT3 32's! So any other offers with similar mods to what i plan would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Don't be modest.

I'm not...it's a shitter.

Paint chips on the bonnet, center air vent has come out, centre console is coming apart, bootlid has more metallic in it so it looks more silvery than black, squeaks, rattles.

So yeah, it's shitty. apart from the flames...they're cool. Airplanes miss the runway when I'm driving over the gateway bridge coz they are dazzled by the light.

Still very interested if anyone else is willing as my expected power will be around the 150 to 160rwKw range which is well under 3LIT3 32's! So any other offers with similar mods to what i plan would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

I could turn the boost down, fuel pressure, back the timing off. You could have all the comforts of an almost stock 32....cept the 100db out the exhaust lol

I'm on the goldcoast, could give u a ride with mild mods and the rb25 highflow (goes ok), but to be honest its auto so there goes 20-30% of the power and 90% of the fun.

Beau's one might not be a bad one.. least its manual :P

    • The engine stuff is Greg Autism to the Max. I contacted Tony Mamo previously from AFR who went off to make his own company to further refine AFR heads. He is a wizard in US LS world. Pretty much the best person on earth who will sell you things he's done weird wizard magic to. The cam spec is not too different. I have a 232/234 .600/603 lift, 114LSA cam currently. The new one is 227/233 .638 .634. The 1.8 ratio roller rockers will effectively push this cam into the ~.670 range. These also get Mamo'ified to be drilled out and tapped to use a 10mm bolt over an 8mm for better stability. This is what lead to the cam being specced. The plan is to run it to 6800. (6600 currently). The Johnson lifters are to maintain proper lift at heavy use which is something the LS7's supposedly fail at and lose a bit of pressure, robbing you of lift at higher RPM. Hollow stem valves for better, well everything, Valve train control. I dunno. Hollow is better. The valves are also not on a standard valve angle. Compression ratio is going from 10.6 to 11.3. The cam is smaller, but also not really... The cam was specced when I generated a chart where I counted the frames of a lap video I had and noted how much of the time in % I spent at what RPM while on track at Sandown. The current cam/heads are a bit mismatched, the standard LS1 heads are the restriction to power, which is why everyone CNC's them to get a pretty solid improvement. Most of the difference between LS1->LS2->LS3 is really just better stock heads. The current cam is falling over about 600rpm earlier than it 'should' given the rest of my current setup. CNC'ing heads closes the gap with regards to heads. Aftermarket heads eliminate the gap and go further. The MMS heads go even further than that, and the heads I have in the box could quite easily be bolted to a 7.0 427ci or 454 and not be any restriction at all. Tony Mamo previously worked with AFR, designed new heads from scratch then eventually founded his own business. There he takes the AFR items and performs further wizardry, CNC'ing them and then manually porting the result. He also ports the FAST102 composite manifold: Before and after There's also an improved racing crank scraper and windage tray. Helps to keep oil in the pan. Supposedly gains 2% power. Tony also ports Melling oil pumps, so you get more oil pressure down low at idle, and the same as what you want up top thanks to a suitable relief spring. There's also the timing chain kit with a Torrington bearing to make sure the cam doesn't have any thrust. Yes I'll post a before and after when it all eventually goes together. It'll probably make 2kw more than a setup that would be $15,000 cheaper :p
    • Because the cars wheels are on blocks, you slide under the car.   Pretty much all the bolts you touched should have been put in, but not fully torque up.   Back them off a turn or two, and then tighten them up from under the car with the wheels sitting on the blocks holding car up in the air.
    • Yes. Imagine you have the car on the ground, and you mine away all the ground under and around it, except for the area directly under each individual wheel. That's exactly how it'd look, except the ground will be what ever you make the bit under each wheel from
    • Yes, if you set the "height" right so that it's basically where it would be when sitting on the wheel. It's actually exactly how I tighten bolts that need to be done that way. However....urethane bushes do NOT need to be done that way. The bush slides on both the inner and outer. It's only rubber bushes that are bonded to the outer that need to be clamped to the crush tube in the "home" position. And my car is so full of sphericals now that I have very few that I need to do properly and I sometimes forget and have to go back and fix it afterwards!
