Petrol Information

G'day fellows, umm i was told that skyline turbo engines needed to be runing at least of 95 octane petrol miniuim, however i've been putting just premium petrol and sometimes unleaded petrol, would anyone knows if thats alright or bad? Also what are the future consequences when leading with premium petrol what will the results be?

The timing is probably set up for 100ron fuel, being an import. As far as I know, you may get excessive ping from the motor if your ECU hasn't relearnt the different fuel. There are guides here on how to reset your ECU, but if you plan on using lower-ron fuel permanently, it'd be worth getting a tuner to adjust the timing based on how much knock you are getting.

Otherwise, if you want better power and less pinging, use 98 ron. =-]

Just use 98RON, its only a few cents dearer per litre... hey you own a performance car, give it the juice to live like one.

My R32 would occasionally ping on 95ron.

No doubt an R33 WOULD be slightly detonating under some circumstances running 95.
