Congrats John. Good to see another Skyline breaking into the 9's. Glad to hear the Hollinger is worth it's cost.

This only strengthens the emphasis of how strong the import scene is in AU. More power to us all.

Keep up the good work John. Would love to see some video footage if anyone has some.

It would be good to continue the battle over at Kiwana.

Will have to see what happens.2 cars+2 teams+expences=$$$.

My main goal is to keep it one piece & have fun racing it.

Maybe a few late night blasts around the suburbs looking for V8s!

Mark Tilbrook has a few little tweaks planned for the car -stay tuned.

So who was the dickhead who brought Aerogard instead of suncream....at least I didn't get eaten by "Mosquitoes, Flies, Sandflies, Leeches and Ticks"!!! Seemed to keep all the hot chicks away as well.....man my neck looks like a sundried tomato!

Day worth the pain tho.... Kier, John & Sub Zero cars, 2700HP worth! Loved one of the Sub Zero runs with tyres fully smoked to half track.

Bring it over mate.Bring your get out of jail free card too.

Seriously though, it's too powerful for regular street use now.

It's not even at peak revs in 5th over the line.Imagine going to limit in 6th!!! Might have to go out to RAAF base or somewhere &

try it one day.It is a shame to gain all that speed so quickly & have to slow down straight away.

Yep, that 1/2 track burnout did look good - but because he stayed

on the 9800rpm limit in 2nd with no traction & didn't get off it

Brett melted that motor.Disappointing - wanted to see it hook up

& run low nines. They'll be back. Also Mick's drag car will be awesome to see - he's a top bloke.

It "might" be possible to arrange? The logistics & redtape would be a pain, but worth it if we got the greenlight. I've seen it done before on other bases I've been posted to. They've used the RAAF Edinburgh strip for V8SC vs F/A18 runs.

The airstrip is 8400ft (2560m) long & 150ft (45m) wide. It should be enough for a quick legal 300+k blast.

I might ask the right people a few questions.

Whatsisname, might be worth organising a car club on the base, there are a few import owners and highpo cars getting around up there. so if they say no the first time around, it could be organised from an defence approved club and could then invite others to come and play too.

If you want to, or need to go down this path, I will certainly help in anyway i can - seems such a shame to waste a perfectly good airstrip.

Steve

Sounds like a plan Steve! Just need to get the ball rolling. Easier said than done usually :D What we need is someone on-side with a bit of weight, in the form of high rank :)

I vaguely recall a similar attempt to use the RAAF Richmond strip for high-speed runs. One of the biggest hurdles, apart from liability issues, was the strip always being open to air traffic on weekends!

Oops! Looks like I've hijacked the thread. Sorry guys :D

How about twin T51R SPL BBs !!!

Seriously though, if I get a definate deal on the 2835Rs(lots of interest but no cash yet) I will upgrade to 3037S x2.This will give me an extra 100hp or so & should put the car in the low nine second bracket. 3240s would be cool, but would have to rev higher to make full use of them & also rebuild the engine sooner.

I am not interested in running 8s - too much maintenance.

I think the 3037S are a perfect match for the 3 litre with the step pro cams & extra compression it has.A lot of the japs are using these turbos right into the 8 second zone.

This is just an idea - the 2835Rs are great & I will be happy to keep them & stay in the mid nines if thats what happens.

See everyone tonight - looking forward to checking out any blue Skylines.

Sorry munro i didn't see you sitting in the passenger seat of my car on that third pass at least i know what i did wrong now:rolleyes:

Apologies Brett.Only commenting on what I saw.I know it's impossible to determine the cause of some engine problems.

Everyone loved your car & we are all looking forward to seeing it again in Adelaide.I know what a pain it is to travel so far & have a breakage - I hope it all works out ok.

BTW - I would love a ride in the passenger seat sometime!!!

Cheers mate.

    • I will say most technicians aren't the best, then they see a Skyline and it seems like their brains start oozing out of their ears. But actual good techs that knew what they were doing to begin with I don't see them having any issues with this car. And it doesn't attract that much attention. But if you were wondering what it's like to be an attractive woman, driving an RHD Skyline in the US is pretty much as close as it gets in terms of endless male attention. Random people will strike up conversations with you at gas stations, at mechanics, etc. List goes on. When I do alignments for any car I never leave it overnight. I bring it in same day and usually just mill around outside the shop because I can't be bothered to call a taxi to go somewhere for 30 minutes only to get another taxi back.

    • Gas springs (ie boot/bonnet struts) will be charged up to about 200 bar. That's a bit scary. Suspension dampers will have maybe 10 bar of N2 pressure, which is just a sneeze, where I come from. Anyone drilling holes in anything, pressurised or not, without wearing safety glasses deserves swarf in the eyes.
