rolling in neutral while on freeways and downhills is trouble waiting to happen

Forgive my stupidity, but what could happen? Not that I go around at 100km/h on the freeway in neutral or anything, but occasionally I will slip it into neutral before I come to a complete hault at traffic lights (at 15km/h or so).

Don't agree

I like to be able to tap/burst on the accelerator at any time I want with out having to shift from N back into gear for all the "shitt happens" scenario's. On more than one occason a quick tap of the gas has gotten me out of trouble from morons who get close to slamming into me from behind or the side.

Further to that I always stay in the appropriatte gear for optimum accelration. No point tapping 5th when your going 20KM p/hour

only if i've taken of and i go to 2nd gear tho

downshifting doesnt do shit

i dont know how to explain how to drive a manual

i just kinda did trial and error when i was on my l's

also, i never ever roll in neutral (unless im super low on petrol!)

Rolling downhill or decellerating in neutral uses more fuel.

The efi cars cut fuel when decellerating as a method of improving fuel economy. I generally just pop it in third approaching traffic lights and let the engine do the majority of the braking.
