Snowman,

can you explain The Bat's answer to my question!

http://www.wrx.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28944

Are we a sub-class of associate?

Are we not eligible for WRX associate class points (not that it really effects me)?

What split in the SAU classes is he referring to?

So what's the adjudication on this now. I recall my 4 point 2" is ADR approved at 51mm and button QR and tags, but do I need to now go to a 3"? (when the track barge is going again)

Also I have the FIA mounting plates on the rear shelf for my harness, but they are a bitch to install neatly due to the shock well in the rear of R33's and the location of the speaker hole. Also have the plates under the floor for the lap belt mounting.

For the GTR though I just use the rear seat belt mounts and front belt mounts/seat frame as it only does Deca stuff so is more for stability than impact safety.

"Black Commodores maybe excluded from racing at anytime. Especially if they blow clouds of smoke driven by ex-club presidents."

aaahahahahaha THAT'S GOLD

For those that have R32s, Silvias etc...is it possible to get a ruling on whether we can wrap our harnesses around the rear strut brace then through the parcel shelf. Of course where the strap goes over the parcel shelf i will make sure there is anice fillet/guide for the harness so that it doesnt frey or get cut on the thin gauge stioll in case of an accident?

Roy,

They want to slpit the associate class up because basically the ex-pre there doesn't want to compete against Frank. He wants a trophy so that he can show it to his wife in the hope she'll be impressed and maybe give him some loving (its been a while you see). At the moment it looks like it will be split into 2 classes - 2WD and 4WD.

The thing is our club also runs its own championship so we are just trying to see what we can do. We might take over all the skylines and let the "associate" classes be for non skylines. But if we take the skylines then there will be bugger all 4WD associates. So then maybe it might become turbo and non turbo.

Although for your interest - since we have you and pomejo when he gets the car fixed and some more of the EVO guys coming over now we also breifly discussed last week about whether we could fit you guys into a couple of the WRX classes.

But basically it's not organised yet because me and Chris and Tony and who-ever else haven't sat down and fully decided on how we are going to do it. So for now just go and drive and we'll get it sorted as soon as we can.

<Me flips left bird to snowy and right to geoff>

I don't decide the classes.

I did like the idea of splitting associate class into 2WD and 4WD classes as it was getting a bit big to score points in. ie most of the top 10 cars in assoc. were Skylines.

We looked over last years results and it was a much fairer split with a 2wd and a 4wd associate class. Trophy for first place only in each class and a 1,2,3 for the championship.

That was my vote but Tony has gone in some other typical lazy Bat direction.

And by the way, I have far too many trophies already :P

(New engine = 227kW :( )

Can't say it's the reason I post mate, but jealousy's a bitch and so are you :( (so Snowy keeps saying). Better watch I don't get my eyes scratched out :(

Seriously Budge, 227kW. I think my Laser Lynx makes about that but it ain't all about power. Look forward to seeing it Saturday anyways, just wish I was allowed to get on with fixing the barge so we could play.

You'll note though that my question still hasn't been answered. Is 3" mandatory (no that is not another shot at Budge).

I think budge wants to exclude not just skylines but the rest of the commos( espec the blue and red ones ) and the mx5's then maybe he might get third .

ps Snowy , watched that serious perf. 8 dvd yesterday and saw the Datsun getting another flogging around calder , saw the 52 sec time and hoped that was the short track you were using. :P

Come on, i hope thats when you only have 4 spar plugs in the thing. My little 2L has more power at the rear wheels.

Last year it would haev been good to have a RWD Associate Class, as a lot of the rounds the RWD Skyline boys were a no show. This year there looks to be plenty of us :D

For manufacture and installation of the harness bar (which took several hours) it was just over $600. It's an extremely robust installation and all you can see of it once the parcel shelf is back in is the eye-bolts. Meridian haven't e-mailed me the photo's yet - I'll post them as soon as I get them.

Here's the pics....

Cool, that the sort of thing i wa going to do using my strut brace :P Only thing is my strut brace is alloy. Can you do me the service and tell me the thickness and pipe diameter used so that i can work out if the alloy brace is equivelant in thickness?

I have a question. And I may just be stiring up useless conversation, from the usual crowd, but I think it's valid.

Even with Provo's setup. Which by the way look shmick, easy to use, and functional. What would happen if you were wearing a harness, hit a tree/car/pole from the passenger side and the car began to stretch around pole and become bananna shaped. You would be at risk of the harness seriously stretching, and I imagine that your body would be the weakest link. This bar wouldn't move, and the bottom ADR eyelets wouldn't move, but the distance between these two points would increase. I can imagine this would almost be a fatal situation, crushing your upper body, neck, shoulders, lungs etc.

Now I know this wouldn't be as likely to happen with a full cage, as the car wouldn't bend. But are there any other ways of preventing this situation? Because while harnesses have their merit in rollovers, as apposed to a lap sash. I would imagine that a lap sash would be better in this situation, if the car was without a cage.

You don't need 3" as long as it's CAMS or FIA standard, there used to be some 2.5" that has CAMS/FIA tags. Not sure now.

Scotsman it's hard to predict what will happen with the harness in that situation. But on most tracks it would be hard to hit a tree. For serious Tarmac Rally you should really have a full cage.

It was more a theoretical question. Let's say I get T-Boned crossing the short track at winton by a car doing 200+

Or slide into a concrete pit wall seperator at speed.
