You Bar is easily repairable, i have repaired alot worse. (Sections were missing lol) A repair such as that would cost a Maximum of $100 plus paint at your local "normal" paint shop. NB: those big expensive paint shops are not "Normal" lol

Considering the cost of a replacement item compared to the repair i think it is plain to see which is the more logical answer.

Sweet so its repairable. Thanks for that also riverside do you have those ventalated front guards, I know you can get them off yahoo.jp. My main prob will be matching the pearl, done before but I think it wont just be restricted to the guards, maybe whole side.

DMD in Brisbane have the moulds for the vented front guards......despite not having fitted any of thier guards my sellf, i assume they fit well as does most of thier kits.

Alternatively ADD in Brisbane may also have them, Danny is great to deal with.

It would work out alot cheaper and easier to buy them locally. Depsite the access to imported parts, there are something i tend to buy locally, In fact i always TRY to buy local before importing to save hassles.

I purchased genuine M Sports guards... you tell me if they fit (well!)?

Mine required some serious work for the chassis mounts for them to fit as good as they did.

Well going by that single picture, the gap by the door is not perfect but it aint bad......just a pity about the front indicator and the front bar .....

It is for that reason that i have spaced out my factory guards to hourse my 17x 9" rims with 20mm spacers rather than get glass vented guards.

Is good to know there are vented gaurds made locally

am so interested in getting these(when i fix everthing else going wrong with my car)

how exactly did you go about spacing you factory guards RiverSide

i need to cover up my rims badly as the cops realy hassle me about them as they are so noticeable

Thanks riverside, will do some research today as to what its going to cost me to get a new set of guards vented vs standard + rolled. Ive always likes the ventelated ones, what dilemas are there in fitting them???? jaik?? is there slots for the indicators etc???

Spacing the factory guards is actually a very simple process......however i must mention that it will cause an increased gap between the top of your guard and the bonnet.....which i dare say some of you will be concerned about......I did this on my drift car and did it knowing this and it turns out i actually like it :P

Basically you just remove your guards and then drill new holes directly next to your existing ones at the top of the GUARD where it bolts onto your car at the top near the bonnet. (obviously the holes need to be drilled towards the centre of the car to get the width benefit lol), then you simply bolt them back on. You will end up with the guard sitting slightly proud in comparison to the door......but again i think it looks phat.

Now for the benfits......You already have the stock guards so you save money, standard guards are easier to find (at least they are for my silvia lol) and stronger, they are also smoother, as most glass guards have a hell of alot of ripples through them, even the genuine branded items as seen in Jaiks pic.

Please let me know if any of you do this mod, and feel free to post pics of how you went. I have been telling everyone i can about this mod since i tried it, and so far everyone loves it.

Thanks riverside, see both guards are stuffed anyway so need to be replaced and rolled if they are the stocky ones, as they are at the moment. whats the price of a used guard anyway wouldnt think much over $120 a peice???

hrms I might just keep my factory guards for when I mash the fibreglass ones. I think though I might not be able to use them with my current setup as Im running a 18x8.5 +38 with a 20mm spacer (essentially making it a 18x8.5 +18) - and my fenders were 25mm oversize and my 235 tyres scrubb a little. But my metal fenders have already been rolled so I may very well use them yet. If not I'll just make a new bracket and space them out further hehe

JK

What offset is your wheels? Are you running a spacer because the rims foul on the coilovers? Thats the only reason im running mine.

My tyres have taken chunks off the inside of the arch already... so I really think you need to be quite careful about how far you space out, especially with 17x9. And really you'd want to run a 235 tyre and thats what I have...

But then again... sensible ride height can fix most of these issues!
