i had a t3/t4 hi flowed turbo on the car and was tuned at 13psi but i found that the turbo was no good then i had it rebuilt and on the same boost setting i am running 20psi but yet its not pinging is that due to the fact that it is still extracting the same amount of fuel and air just now its working efficently?

i have all the supporting mods to run 20psi so that is not a problem!

just wondering y its not pinging?

I'd love to know what these supporting mods are..

Fuel pump and a fulleh sick BOV?

haha mate you are funny and i would explain it but since you have to be a smartass about it, well................... i wont!

i dont classify those two you listed as modifications they are expected, iam sorry thats all you are running tho :D

just to clarify it was tunned when the existing turbo obviously not running efficent was running 13psi and once rebuilt properly now with the same setting is now running 20psi although have tunned down to 18psi for everyday driving, my question was just wondering, is the reason the car is not leaning out because it is still extracting the same amount of fuel and air, the turbo is just running efficent now creating more boost??

this turbo didnt start as a t3/t4 i had one of those once and they were no good if we are thinking of the same one you are.

this is a Rb25 front housing, with a T4 back housing which has been hi-flowed and comp cover made larger with stage 3 hiflow and all the rest done. so t3 front and t4 rear blades

whats the question exactly?

why isnt it pinging?

without providing answers to the questions in this thread you aint going to get any answers.

1) what mods?

2) was the turbo spec changed?

i find it almost impossible to believe rebuilding a turbo would cause it to work any differently... by using "better quality" parts.

Ynless you changed the actual spec of the turbo, being the trubine &/or comp wheel... but you've said that didnt occur...

it was rebuilt to same spec just with diffrent brand steel wheels this, time and stuff was machined properly, before when i had it on the car i dont believe was built properly but now it is. and 100% old one running 13psi and now same settting 20psi with no boost leaks just disconnecting alone the ebc standard spec is 15psi thats wat the turbo guy said and he was spot on the money.

the reason i didnt list mods before is cause ..well read the post. dunno how it will help

rebuilt, forgies etc and all the rest that comes with rebuild bored 20 thou etc, fmic, 550cc injectors, rising rate, f/reg,fmic,xhuast,remapped ecu, z32

but that wont effect the orginal question

all i know is i got it running at 18psi now dayly and its alright

Well its one of 2 things.

1) The tune was massively rich/crap before hand @ 13psi by whoever did it, which would be a fair bet

2) Still only half the detail regarding the turbo, what do you mean by

it was rebuilt to same spec just with diffrent brand steel wheels this,

That doesnt make a lot of sense, your changing the wheels! Unless they were of identical trim blah blah, which i would find interesting going from one brand to another... Its not like you can go from a Trust wheel to a Garrett wheel and expect them to be the same...

You never ran more than 13psi before you sent the turbo off, so you cant really say that it would not have pinged if you ran 18psi with the old (non rebuilt) turbo

you're the one being all "secretive" etc about your supporting mods.

I've got a FMIC, 4inch intake, Q45afm,full exhaust, 550cc injectors, walboro 220lph fuel pump full front dump pipe, hi flow cat, 3.5 - 4 inch exhaust, Garret GT30 550hp turbo, Powerfc and hand controller, FC-datalogit

they are supporting mods.

You complaining about your new "turbo" not causing the car to Ping is just plain stupid. Pinging is bad, and f**ks your motor. The smaller standard turbo is a hairdryer at 14psi and the hot air causes the fuel to detonate. A bigger turbo may to higher boost and be more efficient, but if you haven't got supporting mods to get the fuel in there its going to go band and you'll be looking for a new motor.

So you've just bolted ona big turbo, wound up the boost to see if it will ping.

You've got a remapped ecu that is certianly not tuned for your bigger turbo... There is your problem. You can't hear all pinging. It'll be rattling those forgies left right and center and you won't have clue till you start seeing blue smoke in the rearview mirror.

Dumbest shit ever.

Go and get your car tuned properly before you kill it.

if you had of Listed your mods to start with, explained what you've done, and didn't be a smartassed prick about it you might have gotten better answers. You wonder why people have got no idea what you're on about and can't help you? Noticed the scattered posts that people have left here with no idea?

Is it just me, or does SAU get stupider by the week?

"Everyone, omg, wtf, I just installed a bigger turbo and my car doesn't ping at 20psi! Whats wrong with it!!!!1111oneone!!111!!"

With a rebuilt turbo it should be more efficent, meaning more airflow at the same psi of restriction. So actually if it was tuned on map it would be more likely to ping and if on maf same thing but max it out sooner and go into rich mapping to avoid detonation, maybe thats why.

A new turbo wont give you more boost on the same setting, (i dont care who you are) its just a setting to tell the wastegate when to open.

My 2 cents.
