Mixture/Boost

Just a quick question for those that tune their own safc's - or those that know.... when boosting up the turbo, do you want the mixture leaner or richer? (and why?) trying to get my head around this without much success. thanks....

Well I don't do it myself but I get it done on a Dyno, the leaner the mixture the more power you will make, most tuners aim for a mixture of 12.0 - 12.5 A/F ratio.

but becareful, too lean a mixture could destroy ur engine (detonation)... so don't try to get any leaner than that "perfect" A/F ratio...

Just think about how the compression works in a cylinder... if you run rich you are gettin gmore fuel into the cylinder which means there is less amount of compression going on beause there is less volume of air to compress (fuel doesn't compress). The less you have the more air there is to compress... the more compression, the harder it combusts and the more power ya get. Make sense?
