sweet. look forward to it. anyone else? what is everyone else running, remaps?

My previous R32 had an RB20 with a remapped ECU that I organised through Chiptorque. My latest R32 has an RB25 with larger injectors and turbo so I bought a plug in Haltech E11v2. Quite happy. As it runs off a MAP sensor I don't have to worry about about stalling problems associated with the AFM.

Overall good idle, cold start and general running.

plug-ins hey... like power fc? been reading some good things bout them. they seem to be like arseholes in that everyone's got one. does this mean they are good or are we all sheep.

anyone know a cheap place to get ap engineering pfc. not real keen on payin 1500 for a plug-in, even with commander. anyone want to unload one??

funny thing is they seem pretty common for a motor that wasnt common enough for apexi to make a ecu for it.

i'm only planning on about 220rwkw so the standard rb20 afm should be alright, otherwise i'll just get a z32.

so the power fc goes alright hey? good value for money even if ap engineering = $$. i'm in brisbane. is there any good tuners anyone knows of up here? whats that goin to cost?

what about a wolf3d? anyone had any experience with these?

You can also look at Power FC d-jetro if you don't want Air Flow Meters.

The Power FC really is the way to go. Quick tunning, great ECU, cheap, and so on. Tunning can be done in Brisbane by Gavin Woods @ Autotech.

You just can't go past a Power FC as a complete package which includes tuning.

U dont want to choose a pfc cause everyone has them? It sits under a cover. no one see's it. If its the better option then who cares if everyone has them.... they obviously have them because they work.

no i was wondering if they were actually good or if someone got one and told everyone they were good. they just seem like the ricer's ecu. i mean if a 14 year old with no car knowledge sees 'power fc' they think "yeah cool, i've heard of that one in hot4s so it must be good".

i dont mean to say they are gay cos everyone has one, i was just wondering the reason as to why. they may well be by far and away the best value for money ecu on the market.

my opinion on the power fc means zilch cos i have never used one or been in a car with one. so i was consulting the experience of others.

i have a rb20 so an ap-engineering unit is required, which unfortunatly is approx $1500.

pros

plug and play

best control of a/c , cold start , idle

cheap

and most importantly the widest range of tuners avaliable for any ecu in australia

cons

needs add ons or djetro version for map sensor operation , traction control or boost control

computer software is also additional cost

lacking some advanced "wank" options like antilag , rotational idle

If your in sydney why dont u go down to the guys at Haltech at wetherill park they have direct plugins for the GTR & have extra inputs/outputs etc,they leave the power fc & j-detro for dead .Great computers & a great aussie product with help & support to back,might be dearer than an fc initially but u will save in the long run trust me i've done the sums & yeh its a lot better for me & the service is great & top quality gear.

In the process of setting mine up know & am impressed to say the least with these guys,highly recomended.

I challenge you to fit any aftermarket ECU and not spend heaps more than a Power FC. Takes less than 5 minutes to fit and drive the car away. That's a $100 saved right there. All the base mapping is done, cold start and run, hot start, power steering and a/c compensation. There's $400 saved. If you have a mildly upgraded engine it can be tuned in less than 30 minutes. No MAP sensor driven ECU can get anywhere near that. There's another $300 saved. Many tests have proved the PFC closed loop running to be the closest you will find to the standard ECU, that means savings at the bowser every time you fill up.

Shall I get into configurable dash board warnings for AFM voltage, injector duty and (most importantly) knock. Nope they're pretty obvious advantages.

There is simply no better method for determining the load on an engine than measuring the airflow into it via an AFM. A MAP sensor driven ECU guesses how much air is going into the engine by multiplying the rpm. It is never as accurate.

The Power FC is #1 because it is the best all up value ECU for mildly upgraded Skylines, it's that simple.

Buddy Any computer running a AFM is rubbish.Stick to computers running map sensors,you never have problems with them.

use a haltech E6X or E11

I have plenty experience with them and they are unreal computers

I am currently running a HYDRA computer.Which is like the E11 but is much better for a street car.No more Manual Boost Ts Or having to spend money on a Eboost just all runs off the computer.

All Good Computers Have outputs for NOS,Turbo Timers,ETC and you can change Coilpacks ETC

So if you are going to buy a computer Spend the money on either

Haltech or HYDRA

If you dont want to spend as much Buy a Mircotech

Dont waste your money on a powerfc or getting your standard Computer Retuned.
