Office job with an investment company - IT All-Rounder

Pay is OK, not nearly enough for the money being poured into the 'line tho.

I recommend you get into the property market early. The earlier the better. You will have less cash on hand but in 10>20 years time you should have enough for a garage full of GTR's :D

I'm a graphic artist.. the pay is crap, and i have to work 6 days so I can have a comfortable wage to live on each week. I have been saving for years for my skyline, my old car kept on sending me broke so in the end I just went to the bank and got a loan and now have my beautiful R32. The bank owns me but i figure its worth it. :D

Principal in Chartered Accounting Firm. Own Black Aussie Delivered R32 GTR. Ex Professional baseball player(USA), but looks like i'm going to get a contract for 1 year with an industrial league company in Japan. If this comes off I will be trying my very best to bring back a R34 GTR.

IT All Rounder as well, Network Controller is title in Education Department. Got about 500 pc's on-site with 2 it workers (including me).

Keeps us pretty busy.

Paid to much for the line but still love it.

I'm a network admin at a finance company... Only been here 3 months so the pay isnt the greatest... yet! B)

Just savin money driving a R32 NA (got an RB25DE tho ), but gonna get a 33 GTS-T and put about 4k of mods on it straight away...

Dave.

Printing (Prepress), so in the Graphic Arts field....I ticked the Industry option but I'm not a factory worker..

good luck with that, I reckon it would be very interesting.. do you know what you have to do to get into it?  Do you have an interest in dog obedience/handling already?

well basically I had a dog as a kid, I don't really fear dogs, I can do some cool whistling which seams to get their attention and make them my friend

I mainly want to get into customs for reasons such as I hate drugs, I hate druggos, I dislike crime, I want to help stop it but not be a cop so I don't have to hand out defects to guys who are just enjoying their cars.

Working at the airport would be a lot of fun too, my mate's dad is a pilot there, takes his bike down the runway, might be able to get my GTR on there when I get it (it being the car and the job ).

Pay's pretty good and in customs there are plenty of things to do, boats, desk job, detector dog handler etc.

I feel it is too late to get into IT now. hard to find jobs, hard to find people willing to hire less experienced young people to be trained up. they just want someone they can drop into an office and say "RUN IT, if it f**ks up, you get replaced. have a nice day"

Just worked 2 part time jobs last year. From one of the jobs i didnt touch the money and use the money from the othee job too pay bills etceach week. But watever u doo... dont get a loan !!! Ive seen my friends and yeah they still owe money for there cars and i own my one already and they probably got years 2 pay it off.

I for now work at Target as a casual

I plan on applying for a job as detector dog handler (or anything else I can get) at Customs.

Hey, import cars are an expensive hobby aye. :)

Sorry to go off topic mate, but I've recently been invited for a group interview for Target for a management traineeship. I know you're a casual, but did you have to go through a similar process of a group interview before you were hired? Any info is appreciated. cheers

Good luck with whatever you plan to do

I live in the middle of nowhere, pretty much about 400kms NW of bum-f**k-killbilly-backwards-hicksville and about 150kms N of the hottest place in Australia. I work for a large Mining company who I have been with in one capacity or another for 6.5 years. Said company pays very well for the work that I do, though they pretty own me, my life, health, sanity and anything else they want.. I look at it this way, I am pretty much like a whore, but I don't do sexual stuff, I do what ever they want and I get paid very well for it.. I am essentially a multi traded worker specialising in the some key areas of the railway operation, my experience and knowledge of the system far outweighs my lack of qualifications as I am often used in an engineering role.

My car is just a toy, to keep me paritally sane, though at times it makes things worse..

there are too many jobs, too many choices in this world.

Things rush through my mind. I'm only 17, I hopefully have a long life ahead of me. Do I get my dream car now, work for it hard, and once I have my dream car I start to work on getting my dream job or dream house? Or do I get smarter first, up my grades some through TAFE and get a good office job now, invest, get a house and then later when I'm older get my dream car (which by then will be older and less reliable).

Too many things to think about when you're 17 and graduated high school!

well im 20 and still at uni so don't have a job as such.....

My parents bought my cars initially, then i started importing cars for myself through my uncle in Japan and if i can find a nice bargain of a car in japan, i usually sell the car i have at the current time, import it, keep it for a bit, if i get a decent offer, i sell it, but not neccessarily. Hence the list of previous cars.......

Good fun as well.....

you should so do this... if I was just starting out again it'd be something I'd look into for sure..

I was wondering if it might be something you had a better chance of getting into if you'd been to Uni or were a dog obedience trainer already, but it seems anyone can do it, you just gotta be pretty fit.. found this link with some info http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4306

I did work in Target but i quit. Want to get a job at maccas as i was told they pay really high.

Im at Uni so i cant get a full time job or anything with huge hours.

maccas do pay OK. way better than hungry jack's that's for sure.

Also maccas is good on a resume.

I'm at target cos I have a retail cert 2. and I like the people in my store and the experience I get. Hours are good and pay is ok.

I made 480 bucks in one week and i'm 17 just because I did 2 full public holiday shifts :w00t:

    • 2 does "sort of" applies, maybe......but looking at what parts would be needed for the swap to get engineered, registered, and insured, and basically that's everything under the car, the modifications the make it legal would be problematic and horrendously expensive, all for a street car that just cruises around and hits a few twisty roads on the weekends Also, from looking at the NSW rules and Regs, with all modifications that is required just to make the car safe and not twist itself to pieces, and then actually get registered for street use, may still be impossible nowadays As for 1, when you add in a fresh engine, fresh transmission, rear cradle and diff, tailshaft, suspension, brakes, cooling, and all the other fabrication required, your probably looking at up to $100k to do it right, all for a 20 year old MX5 that is over engineered and you would never be able to actually use the power it has on the street, much like your beastie, which I love, but you actually track that thing and can use all of its powers in anger, in a safe environment  Hell, the old Bogan Cruise Ship had more power than I could use on the street, and in hindsight, I went a bit silly on that thing, it didn't really need the 500hp it had for what I actually used the car for, it was fun, but basically unusable on the street if you value your licence  As for cams, yeah, I'll probably book it in for them to get installed and tuned soonish, like next month after MX5 Mania are back at work....... and yes, I've already sent a email to bin the turbo quote and quote instead to install cams and a new Fluidampr balancer that will suit the 2.5 better than the OEM 2.0 balancer that is swapped over for the 2.5 install, as the balancer needs to get pulled to time the cams it's a while your in there sort of thing I did think a bit about flex fuel for a laugh, but being na, and no where really around locally anymore to get E85, I've binned that idea, so no sweet sweet corn smells are set for the car I wish E85 was more of a standard fuel, it's better for the environment, better for tuning, plus that sweet sweet smell we all love As for fitting in the family, that's not needed, as everyone in the family already owns a car that can seat 5 humans comfortably enough, the MX5 is "my toy" As for buying a car that is already built, nah, I would rather pick and choose my parts, I enjoy the process, and in the big picture, the additional cost is well worth the enjoyment, and the occasional frustration, I get out of doing it, albeit with other people spinning the spanners, and me, just paying the invoice 🤣
    • Excuse me, but 2) does apply 1) Would also apply if you consider how much is spent in the alternatives. Also there's the option of 3), buy one pre-built that you can put your family in (it's me, it's my car)   That said, I went on a ~500km drive the other day. I didn't use anything more adventurous than 3rd/4th gear at about ~3000RPM and 50% throttle and I was going as fast as anyone has any sense doing on a public road, with enough grip to the point where I didn't want to go any faster. I was obviously under the limit of the current car etc etc. MX5 with 2.5 N/A to achieve the same speed would be more fun for any road scenario. Maybe consider cams. I wouldn't boost it. The use case is just not there and it won't actually make the car more enjoyable unless you really do plan on wringing gears from 1st to 3rd (at least) at 100% WOT on a public road to 150+kmh.
    • Great if: 1. You had all of the money for everything else that is required  2. Lived in a country where you could actually do this and drive it legally on the road Sadly, neither applies to me As for the turbo, I am having second thoughts, mainly for engineering/registration legality reasons and insurance  Not saying I've finished doing stupid things that I probably should do to the MX5, but boost, and V8 engine swaps isn't on the cards Strange, but true
    • I like this page, better than that silly turbo kit   https://v8roadsters.com/product-category/engine-conversions/engine-conversion-lsx/engine-conversion-lsx-nc/
    • That would be my Shoei helmet
