After a lot of thought i have decided it is best to buy myself a Skyline. :D

Just a few things i need answered before i go ahead with a purchase:

I want to get a R32 because i like the shape of them, for some reason im really not into the shape of the R33 (no offence to anyone that ownes one). I have about 15k to spend but that will include paying insurance for 1 year and getting it registered.

So after realizing i cannot afford a GTR i am kind of lost as to what would stand close to it, i have heard around that the gts-4 has been dubbed the junior gtr, so does that mean it would be the next best r32 around?

Im also just after some of your own personal experiences with the r32's and which you consider better and some of the down sides to them.

All information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Age

although I've only been a member here for a couple days, I can tell you right now. Use the search function. there is plenty of info already on this site which will answer your questions.

in answer though. My plans are a 32 GTR. I will afford it. Even if I have to bust my ass and work 2-3 jobs and save it all and not go out with friends, I will get one. Cars are my passion, GT-R's are my god (well Supra's come close).

Only thing I am worried about when getting a skyline is being put in the same category as all those dickheads that drive around in Skylines with zorst and BOV who think they are top shit and drive their cars hard to show off.

Hi Age,

Good to see someone has thought logically, and decided they can't affoed a GTR. Even though alot of ppl want a GTR, it is hard to stand back and say; "i need money for; insurance, rego, repairs (there is always huge repair costs on a sub $20K GTR), servicing, fuel, etc..."

I truly beleive that the GTS-4 is rated under a GTS-t, as the 4wd system sucks too much power out of the rb20 motor. With any R32 you are looking at a 12+yr old car. So be aware of rust, perished suspension components (bushes, springs, shocks, brakes, etc), wear and other unforseen expenses.

Try and find a car with all the majors completed, good brakes, new bushes, good tyres, etc. DON'T only look at what performace mods it has, or if it has a fmic with a BOV

Complete a search and read up on what to look for when buying a Skyline, before you even start looking at actual cars. The more you know the more you can bargin and the less it will cost you in the long run.

Good Luck

Alan

So true,

Think about it man, 4wd it mad for the race track and stuff but u will not be able to have the fun that a rwd gtst will give u. If ur buying a skyline the stupidest thing u could do is buy a gts-4. Without turbo u wont be able to do anything and the 4wd rules out any drifting/donughts for u unless u want to kill urself. Trust me man GTST all the way.

Tas

R32 GTS4 is a turbo.

But the Gts-t is always going to be a faster car until you start having traction issues which won't happen with your R32 until you start spending a moderate amount of money on it.

If you're planning on some heavy mods down the track, nothing wrong with the GTS4 but is you're only thinking of doing boost/cooler/zorst/intake then the Gts-t will be a far better car hands down.

Remember, not only will your GTS4 be heavier but it will also lose more power through the drivetrain so you end up having a heavier car which puts out less power.

i can tell u's that gts4 is faster with the launch and the front torque system than a normal gtst, i ran my car stock against a 10psi gtst and bet him

You should be able to find a R32 for that price, just be aware that they are older and try and get a stock one as it has a less likely chance of being thrashed.

Search the For Sale section on SAU, I think there are a few in there. Also it might be a good idea to buy one off a car yard as they quite often come with a warranty, believe me I used mine a few times, and I got my car checked 3 times before I bought it and they all said it was perfect.

Hope this helps

Chris

intially i wanted an R32 too, but it ~5 years older then the R33. if you look at the R33 long enough you'll grow to love it, i know i did, just bought the beast
