I think you should be looking at around 8 as a starting point for a nice unmolested one.

I paid a bit less than 9 for mine, I then had to get everything done to register it which ended up being about $1200 I think.

I think DR30s are old enough now that they arent seen as being worth less than say a R31 or R32 because theyre older, theyre more of an interesting alternative to a R32 or 33

Its like anything, spend cheap and get cheap, spend more and get a good one, i think 5k you'll be lucky to get one, i've seen them but they are cops, would take x amount of dollars to fix up...Budget like Adam said around 10k mark and you'll find some mint one's, mate of mine just sold his for 10k, and it was fairly mint, just look around cause there are some cops out there as with any car....

My mate has just imported this one and is looking to off load it. I haven't personally seen it yet just seen a lot of photos and looks the goods and a real stocker I think he's looking for around 6500-7000 uncomplied. May not be white but is really nice looking.

I belive contact details can be found here friendly garage. He'll be able to send you off a whole heap of photos. It's in Adelaide by the way.

Why buy a DR, I got an HR in Sydney, it's a bit rarer than DR's, it's a Paul Newman Version and when offered 10 told the guy he didn't have enough money.

Cheers, D

Dennis are you thinking of selling, or only sell if the price is right ;-)

What about Zapata's Paul Newman? That is white and it was for sale a little while back. Maybe someone could take that off his hands. see this post

If someone offered me a million, I might consider it, but otherwise NO CHANCE.

I thought we were going showing together???

Zeb's car would bre a great buy if he still has it for sale, he has a few extras for it now as he got some spares from me.

The good part about our PNV's is the rarety, hard to go past something when there is only five, possibly in the country. He says 3 confirmed, well this is also correct, as we can't seem to locate 2 for some mysterious reason.

All R30 series have now reached Cult status in Japan and getting one here in good condition is very remote. I know Power Play Imports have brought in a few 4 door DR's in recent months, but coupes are getting very scarce to import and the new laws are making it harder.

Cheers, D

We are definitely showing ours together, would nice to have George Fury's race car parked alongside to make a nice r30 menage au troir!

Zeb doesnt seem to have posted lately so I am not sure of the status of his car. Regarding numbers of PNV's I know of yours, Zeb's (my old car) and one that was in SA. I reckon 3 confirmed is probably about right. Makes the numberplates (IOF-003) on my old car still seem valid.

I was having the stereo put in my DR30 a month ago when apparently a policeman was in the in the car audio shop getting the radio's fixed on the policecar. The guys told me he saw my DR30 in the workshop and was blown away by the car. He couldnt believe there were any around and especially in the condition of mine. He wanted to buy it on the spot but the car audio guys said I probably wouldnt want to sell. They were right!

I got some small dents paintlessly dent removed 2 weeks ago and it is looking great. I need to get the aircon regassed before summer as it gets pretty warm in the coupes due to the large glass area. I will PM you Dennis about that Skyline badge and I still need to find some matching DR30 front seats. There were some on yahoo in Japan but they sold pretty quickly and it would be a pain to import them anyways. I also have DR30XX plates on it now.

I also managed to track down some missing wheel centres for my Volks on ebay from a guy in Vancouver. They should arrive in the next couple of weeks. Slowly but surely the car is getting to my fussy standards. I will try and post some updated photos of it in the next couple of weeks.

BTW sorry for hijacking this post! :)

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
