I was told by Ben a race pace that they are mechanical anyway.

stock r32 gts-t diffs aren't mechanical btw, they're viscous (unless nissan released a couple of freak gts-t's with mech's..... who knows)

Hi Guys,

I finally got my car back last thursday!

Im very happy with the rebuild, works very well!

In my situation the rebuild was the better option because my gears were a bit worn and the pinnion rod was snapped, so now my diff is nice and fresh.

We will see how the lsd works over time and maybe look at an after market item. If so I'll know the rest of the diff is nice and fresh!

I also got a 12 month warranty with the rebuild.

Thanks for all you advice and opinions guys.

Take Care

hey guys,

im very confused and dont know what to opt or my gtst 32.

basically the car is street, i like to drive in the hills alot, needs to be daily driveable-ish.. can handle a little bit of inconvinience.. and i want it to slide hard every now and then when i tell it to... whats the best option?? i was offered a nismo 2way for my car, but i dont know if it wat i really want/need.. what do you guys reckon?

A clutch type diff is always shimmed to adjust its tightness.

VLSD's on the other hand are a total different kettle of fish.

A gtr diff can go for as low as 450 right up to around (nisswreck) 650.

Obviously with the nisswreck diff you get to swap it if its too worn or stuffed.

I'm not sure on the setup cost.

I am going this route once I drop new valve springs and smaller head oil restrictors in. Head off job :woot:.

the only real time i find my nismo 2way getting on my nerves is in the servo carparks with the shiny concrete. Then it squeaks like a biatch.

Id only replace it with the gtr mechanical, a 1/1.5 way or the s15 helical centre. But i like the way it is now :woot:

I have had the Kaaz 1.5 way mech diff installed.

The difference is marked!

The car powers out of corners now hard as. At deca on the weekend, I got zero single spinning. much better drive.

but, if ya wanna hang it out, as I really do, the diff is great. very controllable and easy.

so a 2way wont be deathly in the hills and spit me off a cliff somewhere... they are pretty reliable.. as in work the same every time..

unlike some diffs ive noticed will work one time and then not another you have to be prepared for anything depending on what mood its in..?

i dont mind a little bit of gayness from it coz its going to be mainly weekend/cruising/latenight stuff so yeah

Go the 2way.. Its not like you will loose money on it as they hold their value well.

If its a little harsh and you get paranoid when cops are looking when the inside wheel chirps around roundabouts and in carparks then look at a gtr mech diff.

You'll get used to it. I drive mine daily with a lot of car park use (at uni) so there's no way I would put up with a aftermarket 2 way especially if it shudders and chirps the way the nismo 2 way does. :geek:

But if it wasn't for uni I could probably put up with it, not sure if the other half would be too happy about it though. :S

Does anyone know what kind of GTR diff centre would suit a SII R33 Sedan 5 speed? Im thinking of replacing/rebuilding the diff and putting in the GTR diff centre, as it sounds like a good compromise between vlsd and mechanical. Maybe i will wait a while and see what Cubes results are like :).

cheers

Whats a "AFAIC" mini spool? I've been searching for a mini spool for my 33 gts-t diff for quite some time now and cant find one at all.... anyone have any ideas?

Basically a small device that replaces the centre of the diff, be it an open diff or possibly lsd and it locks the diff, kind of like welding only removable.

Hi Guys,

It has been a little while since I started the thread.

I just wanted to share something I found quite interesting.

While I have been enjoying my fresh diff a lil while ago now I was chatting to my mechanic and he told me I had a GTR centre!!!!

Could someone please tell me the advantages??

All I know is it doesn't have clutch packs like the gtst ones.

Thanks

Mark
