Paint discoloration above exhaust

Does anyone else have issues with their exhaust discolouring their rear bar? My car is silver and it gets a browny layer just above the exhaust outlet. The rear muffler is one of those jap ones that pokes out and up at a strange angle...

Any ideas as to how to clean this off?

car running excessivly rich ??.... i have the same style muffler at angle and no staining on my bumper, but i have seen lots of cars getting around with this problem.... out

Are you using Optimax? A mate had the problem with his R34, changed to Synergy8000, no more stain.

A light cut & polish should remove it.

I get it no matter what fuel I use. I just polish it off every time I wash the car.

The brush at car lovers works the best for me. The best detergent and sponges I could buy didn't work as well. But failling that a good polish will do the trick.

heheh, if u got no cat, and running rich, chances are it's getting burnt each time your exhaust blows out a flame. As tlai909, the stain gives it a hardcore jap look to it.. haha, it should polish out, if not, you're gonna need new paint on there. Alternatively, put a guard on there like this:

polish will get it out, but normal sponge and car wash doesnt..

My car runs excessivley rich (flames out the exhaust) and I have that discouloration above my exhaust also. bleh!

CutnPolish gets it out every time!

Yep yep, gave it a polish and its never looked better... i guess now that i know it WILL come off it probably won't get cleaned for a few months... until it is fully unbearable
