hi guys,

ive done the search and read the posts regarding fiting aftermarket oil coolers, but i havnt much lucking find pics of an oil cooler in a 32gtr.

from what i read the best place to fit it is in the wheel well, but my bov and cooler pipiing is there and it wont fit properly!!

i mamaged to squeeze it behind the intercooler but i had to remove the AC canister. (will relocate it later)

Not the best place, takes the heat out of the oil and transfers it into the water (via the radiator). It also blocks the exit airflow from the intercooler. In the side vent with ducting is the best location.

:) cheers :)

As I said, it works fine. The small overall area of the oil cooler relative to the area of the radiator means that any extra heat transfer to the radiator is negligable. As to the intercooler - there's hardly any effect at all. In fact, the front bumper shields the intercooler more.

I would agree that mounting the oil cooler in free air is best, but that is easier said than done on a stock or near stock GTR. Mounting it near the BOV's is near impossible unless the oil cooler core is tiny, and so hardly worth it. Mounting it in the passenger side vent behind the bumper is definately feasible, but would require _very_ long runs of hose, which is far from ideal.

Edit: I would also argue that, assuming the stock water/oil oil cooler is removed/blocked off, it is a zero sum gain in terms of the effect on the cooling system - all other things being equal.

if your sitting in side the car mine is located at the front left lower air vent on the front bumper, angled at a 45 degree angle from the front bumper towards the wheel. it has a fabricated air catcher between the bumper vents and the oil cooler, and at the rear some holes have been cut inside the front left wheelarch to allower airflow from the rear of the cooler out.

mine is farily clear of the intercooler piping in that positon, had you considered/ seen if its possible to mount it on an angle?

i tried fitting it in the drivers vent but there wasnt space??

i could have squeezed it in but it was half of it was behind the bumper.

SK do you have pics of the setup? my bovs and cooler pipiing is in the way.

i dont want to put it on th e passenger side cause the hosing will be too long.

anyone got pics??

thanks

    • Foreign debris, physical shock, boost leak, could be anything honestly. The danger in taking all the timing out of a tune/hitting the R&R corner is that even if the engine doesn't detonate your turbo is taking a lot of abuse from high EGT. Also, even if nothing goes wrong it is a journal bearing that is spinning at 100k RPM on boost. Eventually it goes through enough cold start/pressure cycles to wear it out.
    • I kinda accidentally saw this, and was interested, but It actually seems to replaces the whole center computer, using the existing screen and buttons. AND it may only be for a G37 and not compatible with a Japanese 370. So its not for me, but someone else may be interested to look into it. Its about $680USD. If I am understanding it right, it basically replaces/installs and android pc that integrates with the existing screen. But I could be wrong. https://gromaudio.com/vline/ The video I first saw was the following, with very little and unclear details.     Even if your not interested in the system, the video on their site was pretty comforting in showing how simple the whole centre comes out
    • hfygrte52 what side you looking for? Do you care what color car it's off? Found a white LH side on here: https://skylinespares.com.au/product/nissan-skyline-r33-coupe-rear-tail-light/   Aussie parts place but will ship to USA. Maybe get it before there's a tarrif on 25yo shit box parts
    • I’m with Shannon’s for all 5 of our cars. Agreed values seem fair, premium price is okay. ($210 ish a month, all comprehensive).  Have claimed once with them for a not at fault claim with another car where my car had no damage. Was one call after the incident and an email after. Deemed not at fault so premium didn’t go up either.    I have called up and spoken with people who are not familiar with certain cars and didn’t agree with me on value or let their personal vehicle preferences effect the call. But called back later and got someone else who was more agreeable.
