Odometer

Recommended Posts

The Odometer on my car (R33) has stopped moving, the trip meter doesn't move either. Everything else works like Speedo so I'm a little confused...

I guess it’s been wound back and it hasn't been working now for about 8 months. I've had the instruments out and they look 100% fine. I just didn't have the guts to start removing the dials out of the instrument panel to look inside them for damage…

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Neil.

My R33 is a series 1, would this speedo work in it? and if so how much?

Also if I do remove my existing speedo section out of the instrument cluster to have a futher look do you need to take the needle out? and if the needle is taken out will this effect the calibration?

Thanks guys.

mines the same guys i have posted a thread in WA asking how i get the bloody thing to work as well! Same deal trip and odo stopped everything else working A1. Mine has also been tampered with on australian soil too so it seems (and i bought it privately and he seems to have tampered with it in the last 6 months of him having it) all it seems be able to do is rip the instrument panel out and have a look yourself or have someone look at it for you. Pain in the butt i know mine has stopped for two months now and be probably another two months befor ei get it seen too.

FlyGuy,,,,sorry I don't know if S1's and S2's are the same,,,,I think they are,,but don't hold me to it. Changing speedo's is piss easy,,,,remove the whole cluster, then un-clip the front screen ,then unscrew the speedo itself by the screws at the back,,,reverse all to re-install. No needle work is required. I'll sell you mine for $100,,,it's in ABSOLUTE PERFECT working order. Has 78655 kays on it....

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi Guys,

I own a R33 gts25t and my odometer / tripometer have stopped also, and its giving me troubles since im trying to sell it at the moment as well..

A few people on here have mentioned fixing it themselves or taking the dash to an "instrument tech"

Can anyone who has had success fixing these, tell me who / where they took it to get it fixed (im located in brisbane, but if still supply name of business maybe i can find something up here that can do it also)

and/or more detail information about how you went about fixing it yourself.... any help would be greatly appreciated !!

As I just indicated in another thread, I take all the issues with my car to (including fixing the odometer)

Gavin Woods

Auto Tech

23 Gibbs Street

Labrador, QLD

Ph: (07) 5529 2313

I know I sound like a broken record mentioning this guy all the time. But he does good honest work that doesn't cost the earth.

Yes he is at Labrador, but it only takes 30 minutes to get there.

I've suggested many skyline owners take their cars to him and all have had nothing but praise for him.

Mario, Maybe you could get the throttle body and odometer looked at at the same time?

It didn't take long. But I normally take the whole day off work and go down and leave it with them the whole day.

But I'm sure if you ring him and work something out with him, he'd be able to give you a better idea.

I can't comment on the price because it depends on how much work is involved with doing your car.
