Dr Drift Chip

I got my Dr Drift chip put in last nite, fairly impressed. Its a nice curve, and the car is heaps smoother. Not a bad mod, as it was his 'stock' chip he didnt even need to tune it, so that saved me a good $100 of dyno time, and 1 hours sleep (which at 12.30am is really really nice). Anyway, see the graph attached.

Yeah nice curve, i do like the chips to a degree i had one in my previous skyline and it was alot smoother after i got the chip. interested to see what he charged you for it. i've seen quite a range of prices he has charged.

$380. $330 for the chip, and then $50 for a dyno run. Bang for buck its not too bad a mod these days. I've done all the other cheap ones.

Anyway, had a chance to drive it a bit better on some dry road today. HELL YEAH, it feels like a lot more than a 17kw increase. Top end is way better, it doesnt die off anywhere near as much.

Yeah, a lot of that too (well a bit at least), it just sounds so much better, like smoother, boost sounds smoother. Just really nice. Well spent $380. But I think the $960 on my new head deck was better money

Well I was preped up for another $100 (which would have been dyno time) on mine. But it was that good didnt want to waste the money stuffing with it.

So say $450-500 max?

Best to ask him tho if you got an R33, they might be different.

R33's cannot be done and R34's use a different type of chip. Sam can do the R34's Bikirom. He charges a fair bit more as the daughterboards cost a lot more to get. Best to ask him by emailing [email protected]

yeah i had my old R32 done by samson a few years back... went from running a 15.1 to a 14 flat with just his chip and a bit more boost. cant argue with that!

and got it mates rates too so cost me stuff all.

will definately be getting it done on the 4dr

Wow thats an awesome A/F ratio, dosent budge from a flat 12.0:1 the through the whole rev range.

I had my car recently re-tuned by Dr Drift, it really did make alot of diffrence and i get to keep my STD ECU too

As with all dr drift chips make sure the chip is stuck into the daughterboard by wedging something behind it (like a cutout rubber hose or something) so it doesn't fall out and send your car into limp mode.

CC - thanks for pointing that out. The problems with the daughter boards vibrating loose only happened a couple of times years ago, and only in S13 SR20's... All S13 SR20's now have adhesive foam stuck to the lid securing the board in place. I am also now using the PLMS boards which have never had a failure to the best of my knowledge. All the CA, RB20, and RB26 remaps all use gold plated machine pin sockets which hold the single eproms extremely secure. All the S15's and R34's all have larger boards attached with fine pitch ribbon cable and secured to the factory case with four screws.

R34s - These require a lot more work to make programable, the two options are either the grid board from japan, or the bikirom which costing a bit more has a lot of extra features. There is also considerable amount of time fitting both types of board to the factory ecu. I still haven't finalised prices on these, or developed a good per-tuned map for. We made some good gains on dan's R34 using the bikirom on friday night too...
