Where Have You Mounted Your Tweeters?

Hi everyone..

Im going to install my Hertz 6.5inch spilts most likley tomorrow or thursday, but was wondering if you could post up pics of where you mounted your tweeters?? also how did u do it and why at that position..

i got a fairly good idea exactly where i want it (near the kick panel) and not on the door..

but anywyas would love to see some pics..

N btw yes i know i should test out by using blutack n trying out different positions.. but i would just like to see some pics.. Coz it does help in ideas..

A couple of things I have picked up along the way...

The general way to install tweeters is to put the in the far corners of the dash, where the windscreen meets... the reason for this is it raises the sound stage and makes it sound like they are playing just in front of you... which most sounds places will tell you that "this is the way the music is intented to be recreated".

With that, I have found that doing that will make the treble sound kinda scratchy and sharp... sometimes good and sometimes bad... but this can be helped by turning the treble down a notch or maybe two.

installing them low down near the kick panel defeats the purpose of havng tweaters.

most cars that come with factory splits have the tweeters mounted along the top of the door trim...

I have been hearing mixed things.. omg, what should i do..

blu-tack looks like the best solution..

Yea my parents camry, has spilts, n the tweeters are mounted on the door handle, and it sounds very good for stock spilts in a camry..

I will be installin them today, so will let you all know what happens.. Will also make a review for these speakers..

Tweeters are directional. The sound does not carry like a sub would. You really need them around ear-height, and infront of you.

Many people use the plastic sails that cover the electric mirrors. You can run the wiring right up the door-trim, and drill a small hole in the sail for mounting and passing the wire through. The sails come off very easily, but make sure you don't break the knobbly bit when you put them back in!
