The bottom one goes to your boost controller which should be connected to vacuum and the top one should go to the manifold or pipe before the throttle body so it gets plumped back in.

incorrect.

the bottom one goes to the boost source (intake mani, charge piping after fmic....), and the top goes to the boost controler.

ext gates work just like internal gates they use pressure to open at the right time, so pumping pressure into the top will only keep the gate closed.

i just realized that you were speaking in relation to that picture, and in that case you are right.

however conventionaly i think of the ext gate being set up so the valve is pointed to the ground.

yeh my basic understanding is the bottom one has the mani pressure going in, once it reaches the springs threshold it it opens the valve...

how ever you should check withsome one else not running an EBC cos i know that was a big factor in my mates car, his wastegate having problems and overboosting off the guage before killing the engine
