ive got the same problem mate, it'll cost you $2000+ if you're taking it somewhere and getting them to do it with forged pistons.

im doing it all myself and ive bought a piston off a forum member for $25 delivered.

so far the costs are:

piston $25

bearings (ACL big ends and mains) $120

head gasket (off a forum member) $50

a set of 6 piston rings $??

sump gasket $??

thermostat (might as well do it) $??

Flexigauge for clearances (after honing) $??

and a bit of assembly grease $5

now it depends on how bad the damage is. mine melted leaving no scratches on the bore, this will end up being cheaper as i dont need to bore the cylinders out to fit forgies. im lightly honing all of the bores to re-fit a stock piston.. heres a pic of the cylinder, all work was done in my driveway. my brother in law did most of the work as hes a mechanic (oh, dont mind the oil.. we put it there AFTER we took the head off :D )

see that nice chunk of metal melted away from #6.. thats what it looks like to have a dodgy bleed valve that spikes.
