I am looking for aftermarket ECU for my GTR, and I don't have any knowledge in tunning or setting ECUs, but some people mentioned MoTec makes the best ECUs in the market?

Can anyone give me advice for MoTec ECU system and their approximate price as well. Regards

I have Motec M48Pro with all the fruit (wide band control, data logging, etc) and as already said Motec is probably the best of the aftermarket ECU's, with Autronic running a close second, IMHO. Mine is not used on a GTR tho.

Motec is not cheap, although I haven't checked their prices for a few years. One of the reasons Motec isn't cheap is that they charge for things the others include in the price. For example the price they give for the Motec model you buy is just that.....the price for the ECU. If you want a loom that's extra $$, sensors same. Then if you want wide band control you have to pay extra for that, etc, etc (all Motec ECU's have the full range of capabilities/options built-in, but to access them you have to pay the Motec fee and then they turn the option on by entering a code. It can end up adding up to many $$$, but there's no doubt about the quality.

Depending on what your planning to do, you might be better to look at a PFC, which is essentially plug-in and go, but if you need a Motec there's no doubt it'll do the job.

i will be going the m600 motec with logging and wideband....

Mainly because where i live i cant even get a response about he cars tuning.

from anyone... Not even here !!!

Not quite following you here.....you'll still need someone to tune the M600.

Not with the logging and wideband option. Its quite easy to do yourself with the motec Pro tuning option.

MoTeC have whats called a quick lambda function in their ECU's, It lets you create a map the holds your target lambda value, and essentially you drive the car, get someone to press the Q key on your laptop and the ECU will tune itself to the target air-fuel mix.

SydneyKid once tuned a mazda race car completely in 2 laps of bathurst using this setup.. Very cool stuff.

I know what quick lambda is - I've been using Motec for years. I'm not particularly interested in what someone did with a race car on a race track, it's a totally different thing to tuning a road car essentially from scratch on the road. Even Motec themselves recommend tuning the vehicle on a dyno and then fine tuning on the road.

thast exaclty why MattSR :D... of course it will need tweaks on installation but essentialy MattSR your were spot on with how my motec will run .. i have the money to do it now just gathering information and the right man to do it ....

Seems like a an expensive way to get rid of a topend miss and gather some more clean HP but it sure beats interviewing each mechanic thats guessing in my area .... A progressive upgrade for the gtr ......cant wait !
