Yesterday i was driving my GTR and it sounded like there was a hole in the exhuast and one of the lights on my dash flashed a couple of times. I got to my mates house and had a look under the car and saw some sort of sensor hanging in the ground, i could see that it screwed back into a specific hole in the cat so i put it back in the car ran fine and no more warning light. My exhaust had just recently been taken off to fit a new clutch and flywheel and this sensor must not have been done up properly.

My question is can someone tell me exactly what it is and what it does and it got filed down a bit on the road will that be a problem?

Cooper,

what you would have seen would be the temperature sensor. Its about halfway along the car, screws into a bolthole just behind the cat. Shouldn't have any problems if it ground down slightly

Thanks for that its just what i wanted to hear.
