Brad

cant argue but if it can get me thru for 12months i'll be happy :P yeah its a direct bolt on with t03 flange.

sounds like an airflow meter! i have the same problem!

replacement time?? or just maintenance?

If it is the airflow, you could try spraying that contact electrical cleaner stuff directly into the afm, whilst giving it some rpm to suck it through properly.

Check the voltages coming from the afm, and if you have to replace buy a z32 afm for replacement.

could be afm but could also be a knock sensor problem. had this problem on my old sr20det 180sx. it would just suddenly die down in power a lot, almost like the handbrake was on (that was what i thought the first time it happened). but it would stay this way until i turned the car off and on again. I would clean the afm, check your base ignition timing and check your ecu for any fault codes (reset it too). Just a couple of things to try before you take it to a mechanic. And just for murphys law sake check / replace your spark plugs, it would be more of a missing problem if these were at fault but u never know. I had just put in a new set of NGK plugs properly gapped and it ran like shit, put in irridiums and ran great.
