The knock warning levels can stand for more than just pinging. Depending what warnings you have turned on with in the power FC.

From memory there are 4 or 5 warning settings that will show on the knock gauge. You can have things like injector problem warnings like maxing out etc.

You'd hear the pinging on at least 80 so I don't think it's the knocking that's taking it to 140.

just had my car tuned made 265rwkw on 17psi. On the dyno using the lap top software the car registered no pinging (30-40 on full load). Now we took it for a drive on the road and its making 140 knock on the hand controller.. im puzzled!

The tuner and my mechanic listened carefully but heard no pinging. but at 140 knock on the hand controller would definately be heard when driving or near the motor. So my question is is my knock senser dodgy? or is it too sensitive and just picking up engine noise etc?

Has this happened to anyone before?

The Power FC has a bit of a reputation for not adequately compensating for the different ambient temps & engine temps of the engine under load. You may well find that it is almost impossible to isolate the cell & the circumstances without the data logit software. The best method I have found is to run with the graphing option & graph the knock & rpm on the same screen. A spike in the knock sensor will show on the graph is you may be able to trace the cell number - or atleast your passenger should be able to.
