Hi all,

Time to put in the new clutch but theres one problem, i dont have a clutch aligning tool.

So does anyone have one that they could lend me for this saturday? Shoot me a pm or give me a call, 0403 477 372, we can come to some sort of payment if necessary.

Thanks in advance!

I tried Cheapa Auto Spares when I had to use one of these babies, $40 for a tool I'll probably use once or twice? No thanks... so I know how you feel! I have heard that Repco sometimes LEND people tools - you could try asking someone there nicely. Otherwise, you could use a set of verniers and a bit of guess and check.

an old input shaft or a broken off broom handle worked for me.

then again im just pov spec and dodgy

how about the old torch and screw driver trick lol. na i think super cheap sell universal ones for pretty cheap

thanks fellas...but the fella who'se puttin it in tells me he can make up his own, all he needs is the 2 diameters around the input shaft...

Maybe this is a chance for a group buy? (if it turns out that is works that is)

Or the chance for SAU to have one on hand for members.

most people use a spare input shaft, which is what I've got

shanef you are welcome to come and get it. If I go into town befor weekend I will deliver it. give me a call 5463 6707

align the clutch by feel if u cant get a inputshaft

put the clutch and pressure plate on so the bolts nip the 2 but u can still move the clutch. feel inbetween the flywheel and pressure plate and u will feel the clutch move it around untill it levelall the way round do the bolts up and thats it

dont waste youe money on clutch alignment tool they are useless

well thes clutch is in, no problems at all!

All we needed to do was machin a piece of metal (my case stainless hehe) to the size of the input shaft, and a few others. But yeah input shaft would be the best bet.

thanks all.

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 馃檪  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
